    Hey all,
I just got my new replacment e1505 laptop as the one I received previously had a scracthed LCD.

Anyways, it seems as if the keyboard on my new one is alot "looser" and is also louder, which is a minor drawback as the screen on the new one is almost perfect (slight light leakage).

Also, I wanted to get some opinions on which laptop I should stick with as I currently have two e1505s in my hands. I've included the specs below to determine which is the better laptop based on the specs.

    First e1505
Samsung LCD(scratched, light leakage, exchanged for new laptop)
    Seagate 80GB HD
    Toshiba DVDRW

    Second e1505(NEW)
Unknow LCD - all I get is part number - XD570(LG??)
    Hitachi 80GB HD
    NEC DVDRW

Like I stated above, the new laptop seems better overall, it's just that the keyboard is a little loud. I wanted to get some opinions to see which laptop would be the better value. TIA.

Thanks - I wasn't even sure if that was possible. I know of people who have swapped out their LCDs, but never the keyboard. Is there a link or something where it gives directions, or is it pretty difficult to do.

    Thanks for your response.

I have an e1505 coming with a samsung lcd (bad luck; i know) and wanted to know how you got a replacement. Did you just tell them about the lcd problem and they shipped you a new one with a different monitor? Also, do they send it first then let you choose? Finally, (last one, maybe) how did you complain? e-mail/phone/chat?

How do you know that it's coming with a Samsung LCD?

The laptop was scratched on both sides, which is unacceptable. I used the chat and complained on how I just opened it and I see these scratches, light leakage etc. After a few minutes I was told a replacement was on the way, they even sent me back a returned shipping label. I would just use the online chat as I found it the most useful.

THe order history had the service tag, and I just typed that into my systems and peripherals. Showed everything. If I have leakage problems *fingers crossed* I'll have to see if they'll send a replacement. Thanx for the answer.

Got my laptop with the samsung lcd, and surprisingly, the major problem is the hitachi hd. Replacement is coming but I don't know when. How long did it take for you?

Can somebody post the model numbers of these screens?

I am looking to upgrade from WXGA to WUXGA with Tru-life, just wondering what screen to get from pchub.com...

Also, is an LG preferable to other models?

    Thanks!

If you go on Dell site and look up your system it will state which on you have. It will give a part number and brief description. In that description it will tell you "Samsung" or "LG" somewhere in there to tell you which on it is.

    Hey Varun55,

Are both laptops the hi-res versions, with Trulife?

Just wanted to confirm that model number is the one to go for...

Should there be any problems just swapping the display out, or do you need to be careful about manufacturer/resolution etc...?

I have the 1200x800 standard, wouldn't mind upgrading if it's not too expensive... just waiting for quotes from those spares guys to come back via email...

Yes, both laptops are with the WSXGA screen. You should be able to swap them.

The new one I have came with the model # XD570 which I believe is an LG.

The LG LCD is much better then the Samsung hands down.

I have the UltraSharp Wide Screen SXGA+ Display with TrueLife in my E1505, and my order says "HF811 MODULE, LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 15.4WS+, LENGTH/LONG, GLARE WIDE VIEWING ANGLE, 6400"

    Which screen is this?

    lancorp,

Did you get your answer to your question regarding LCD manufacture for your e1505? I just received a dell 6400 with the same HF811 screen and would like to know what LCD manufacture this is from. I plan to use my 6400 for onsite photo editing but find the screen suffers from color shifts when viewed at different angles. I wonder if this is the LG or Samsung screen.
