I will post this in this dell forum, since I am comparing dell systems. :p

    Inspiron E1505 Intel® Core™ Duo processor T2500 (2MB Cache/2.0GHz/667MHz FSB)
Operating System (Office software not included) Genuine Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005
LCD Panel 15.4 inch Wide Screen XGA Display
Memory 512MB Shared Single Channel DDR2 SDRAM 533MHZ, 1 DIMM
    Video Card 256MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1400 HyperMemory™
Hard Drive 60GB 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive
Network Card and Modem Integrated 10/100 Network Card and Modem
    Adobe Software Adobe® Acrobat® Reader 6.0
    Combo/DVD+RW Drives 24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive
    Sound Options Integrated Audio
Wireless Networking Cards Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/g Mini Card (54Mbps)

THIS for $905 not including tax. Keep in mind for this, I would upgrade the ram by buying a 1 gig stick from newegg...so maybe add 80 bucks to this price.

for $1252. I understand that the 9 cell bettery would make it heavy. Instead of that, I may want to get a better screen (even though I am not picky at all about screens)

    Which is a better deal?

Number 2 is a a fantastic deal for a loaded up configuration that's ready out of the box. But if you want to save a money go with Number 1. Get the memory and faster a HDD off newegg.com or zipzoomfly.com. Get the 9 cell battery off Ebay. Now let me point out that the ram your getting with both configurations if 533. It doesn't make much of a difference really. But if you want 667, you'll have to upgrade the memory at some point on Number 2 also.

From what I've learned on this site the upgrade to 667 mhz ram is almost negated by the latency... that said, I think #2 is the better deal.

I think that if you keep the 6 cell primary and buy a 9 cell secondary it's only like 20 dollars more, and then you have 2 batts. One for traveling, and one for sitting around your dorm... or for backup.
