    Hi,

Which of these is more portable?

    Vostro 1200 or XPS 1330?

I know the XPS 1330 is 1 inch bigger however it's base specs are slightly lighter than the Vostro 1200.

I want a really portable C2D based laptop with a DVD drive in it for seminars/presentations etc.

    Also want the fingerprint reader.

Do you care about battery life?

Also, would you get the nVidia card for the m1330?

    I'd probably get the m1330 and a 9-cell battery

Hi yeh I do care about battery life...well enough to want atleast 3 hours out of a small laptop like these. That's the whole point of them IMHO.

So yeh battery life and portability are of equal importance. Appreciate this means I might need bigger batteries but that's life.

Um not interested in gaming at all on this thing at all so no need for the Nvida 8400 in the XPS 1330.

than it is a good choice, the 1330 (i don't know about the other choice, never even seen one...). i have a 6 cell and i can get 3.5-4 hours, so a 9 cell probably gets 5 or so. and if you get the integrated solution, you don't need to worry about the gpu melt down

I would only get the x1330 if it had integrated graphics. That gpu scares me.

I am in Australia - website shows that Dell only ship the XPS 1330 with the 8400M GS. According to articles I have read the newer XPS 1330's since August 2008 are supposedly not having the overheating issue anymore...

I will talk to Dell directly and see if i can get the XPS 1330 without the 8400M. It might cost less too! :)
