Was all set to buy a Vostro 1500. Just before I pushed the complete order button I decided to look at reviews. The 1400 looks a lot less bulky and I think that I can deal with the smaller screen. I'm not going with the 8600 graphics card as well. Any reason why I should go with the 1500? From what I can see the 1400 does about everything it does in a smaller size. Anyone else on the fence?

You have already taken 2 of the distinctive features of the 1500: bigger higher res screen and the stronger GPU. So unless you wish to have XP as an option, which the 1400 does not offer, go with the 1400 - lighter and longer battery life with all the similar bells and whistles.

Go with 1400, 1500's only advantage - gaming, will be outdated really fast, and then you're stuck with a bulky laptop.
