    Hello

I have an Inspiron 1505 with Core 2 Duo T7200 (2 GHz) processor. A friend has same model (somehow different configuration in memory and HDD) with Core Duo T2350 (1.86 GHz).

I thought that Core 2 Duo ran cooler than Core Duo, but in this case it is the opposite. My Core 2 Duo temps were in the range of 38 - 49 Celsius. His Core Duo temps were 31 - 37. Is this normal, or I should look at my lappy to check what is wrong?

    Thanks

the core 2 duo uses slightly more power, so if comparing notebooks with the same thermal solutions, the core 2 duo should run slightly hotter. your temps don't look problematic, so i wouldn't worry.

Theoretically the Core 2 Duo runs a bit hotter, but it also depends on the thermal design of the laptop as well. For example, in general, Core 2 Macbooks runs cooler than Core Duo Macbooks.

    Thank you ejl.
I've been following the cpu temps, and I am still a bit worried. At idle (Firefox open - cpu 5 to 10% load) the temp gradually rises from 44 to 52-54 C, then the fan turns on and t drops to 38-39 C, and cicle starts again.
Under some load (+/- 30%, virus scan) t goes to 54-55C when fan kicks on to bring t down to 42-44C.

I guess the above mentioned is normal operation, but occasionally I've seen temps going as high as 65C for a very short time, and this is what worries me.
    Any comments?

    Thank you sp00n.

Don't worry, your temps are OK.The limit is 100 C.
My laptop on idle is on 51C and can even reach 80C when stressed and it's normal for the W3J.
