Thanks for taking a look at my question.
My I9300 has been a very good friend for the past 2.5 years. Tough, and powerful. Handling Solidworks and catia with out problems, ive been extreemly pleased with its use. One of the BEST computers i have every used. It recently developed the vertical lines, and after communication with dell although painful, they said they would service the laptop. Hurray. It came back and the screen had huge finger marks / dents on the inside. Instead of repairing it again they opted the choice of replacing the computer. I figured why not, like or better they promised.
Im sitting in front of a new 1720 they just sent me. I havent grown to like it, yet. The case looks funky in design, no DVI port which i have been using, and the offset keyboard layout is uncomfortable.
The Specs ( BARE bones)
is a 1.46ghz Intel dual core
128 video ram
1gig ram
120gig 5400 rpm drive
1900x1200 Screen
The computer its replacing is
Inspiron 9300 2.5 years old
128 video ram
1.86Ghz
512 ram
60gig 7200 RPM
1900x1200 Screen
Mind you I applicate the gesture of offering a replacement computer, but im quite attached to this old clunker. Not being one to want to look a gift horse in the mouth so to say,..
Should i Take the new offering? or have my old one fixed ( they said they would fix the screen now ).. I have to send one back. You guys are pros.
I appreciate your advise.

I'd keep the 1720 as well. It has newer components.

Keep the inpiron 1720, its a no brainer. You'll get used to the layout soon enough.
Which one to Keep Inspiron 9300 or Inspiron 1720
