im not really up to date with screen technology so someone pls tell me whats the main diff between:
Wide Screen WXGA+ (1440 x 900) Display with TrueLife
and
UltraSharp Widescreen WSXGA+ (1680x1050) TFT Display with TrueLife
Is one lcd and one tft? plus is the first cheaper one brighter than the ultrasharp one.
i heard that if you get a higher resolution all the icons and inteernet webpages will be small, which i really dont want. how do i make everything normal size if it can be done? thx

The difference is the resolution. And yes, the higher the resolution, the smaller the text and images are. It is best to get a resolution that you are comfortable with. The way to figure out what you like is to go to a store and start looking at notebooks with different resolution screens to see what is too small and what isn't. If you don't want small text as you stated, I would stick to the 1440 x 900.

Isn't the smallest resolution 1280x800? Just go to a B&M store and look at all of them, note down their resolution size. Play around with them. Just remember, this will be what you're using for the next few years, everyday.

Yes you can also get it in 1280 x 800, which is a resolution a lot of people like. Personally, I don't think there is enough screen real estate at that resolution, but that is my personal preference.

Well, if you're used to working at 1024x768, it is an improvement. Right now my 19" CRT only handles 1024 for some reason; any higher res causes the screen to stutter. Which sucks, since I'm comfortable at 1280x960.
-
isnt there a way to like manually downgrade to 1024x768 if you have a higher res screen
-
Yeah you can put the resolution lower than the native res on any screen. But I would say that anything other than native resolution on a screen looks a bit 'off'. I'd recommend keeping it at the native res

aside from resolution differences., better viewing angles if you use ultrasharp
