I was wondering which types of ram are compatible with this model, I read somewhere that it accepts: DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 PC3-12800, DDR3 (non-ECC) the later only being mention once everywhere I have searched, I am wondering if perhaps it is an error, fingers crossed it is not though being that I have already ordered the DDR3 PC3-12800, DDR3 (non-ECC) type ram, argh hope one of you can anwser this a.s.a.p, thanks a lot . ^^

It should work as long as both are DDR3 and have the same number of pins. 12800 will be able to downclock to 10600 if necessary.

Thank you so much for your swift reply . ^^

How hard is it to downclock ram, I am quite the noob, Is there some sort of "how to" thread somewhere on this forum? Otherwise, not to sure how many pins the DELL has on the stock ram, but on the Corsair Vengeance ram I ordered there is 204 pins .

Edit : looks like its 204 pins on the dell ram yeay . ^^

It will downclock by itself. 204 pins seems to be the correct amount for DDR3 RAM in laptops.

    Hi,

Inspiron N5010 is designed to work with DDR3 1333 MHz SODIMM. Please don’t worry about the number of pins as Dell also uses the standard 204 pin modules.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks & Regards
