Personally I like red. Some think it's too loud, but I think it's just stylish and cool. Black looks simple and nice, too.

I was going crazy when I was trying to decide what colour to pick too but I finally went for the Tuxedo Black on the M1530 :)

I got my daughter the Midnight Blue.

I found it to be a a nice subtle shade which works well with the silver.

    The black I found bland.......

already got the one w/the upgraded cpu..but base wasnt level and speaker bezel was fuxored..called up *****ed, was offered any color, just stuck with black, asked for upgraded components so they gave me another gig of ram and a 200gb 7200rpm HD, i just checked my order online and its missing LED, 8400 video, and wireless N lol, so tomarrow when i call to get it fixed i can prolly ask for any color i want cuz they're gunna havto re-order it

Black is too standard, Blue looks the nicest. Too bad they didn't offer as many color options as Inspirons did. P.S. I believe Red is only available with the "RED PRODUCT". Unless thats really what you have, I'd confirm Red as a good 2nd choice; but stick with 1st choice Blue, 2nd choice Red (if have R.P.)

Does the color lid really matter? I mean you don't look at the back of the screen when your using the laptop. for me it doesn't matter what color. the default black is perfect.

    Good one :)

But of course it matters because the lid is the first thing other people will notice when you're using your laptop. And it's the first thing you notice when you bring out your laptop.

I originally ordered the Black version last August. Unfortunately at that time, the Midnight Blue color wasn't available.

When I recently had the top lid replaced, I asked for a Blue instead of Black and I love it!!

    I prefer Midnight Blue.

I only got the Tuxedo Black because I couldn't find a Midnight Blue M1330 with similar specs (and price ;) ) at Dell Outlet.

Yep... I had black too, a bit dull for me so I PAINTED mine. See link in sig. :D

Anybody know if Dell will sell you just the lids?
I'd like to buy three lids... black, red, blue you know... just to have 'em. :D

(I don't think they offer white anymore do they?)

My only gripe about white is it reminds of a MAC and I don't like MAC's.

Even if they do sell them, you do realize it's quite involved to actually change one, right? It's by no means a Karate Kid "snap-on, snap-off" type thing.

I like the black the most. Call me a conformist, but I think it's understated classy. It doesn't draw attention to itself, but when people see it they notice. I've gotten quite a few nice comments on the black finish. Fits in well everywhere.

Having done this a few times on the m1330 and having used the quicksnap lids on the D series inspirons, I can definetly concur....

So... how is it done on the m1330? It should be similar to the m1530. I want to buy all the colors and change around from time to time. Of course what I have now, nobody has.

OH MY GOD PEOPLE! Do you not realize that black is the NEW black (brown could not hang, green was, well.., too green, red is too bright and white can't be black)!! Is there REALLY any other color - I mean black is a combo of ALL colors!!!

    Black is ALWAYS cool......

    (Get the red)

Black looks the best - style wise it just flows with the rest of the notebook. Red & black is the next best colour combo, then blue then white. But it's your chance to personalize it so just pick what makes you happiest!

The color matters to the extent that it affects durability. The black is hard and matte while the white is hard and glossy. The red and blue have a rubberized "microsatin" finish that may or may not last well, and can retain stains such as ink. Glossy white does not show fingerprints.

The midnight blue is great looking. It seems to change color in different light. It is understated but not boring.

Definately the blue, if the lighting in the room is dim, it looks black. But if the lights are on it has a very cool blue look to it. Plus blue goes really well with the silver trim on the laptop.

Red, I have the Red for my XPS 1530 ~ and am completely happy with it. It matches the colors in my messenger bag; my MP3 player; and my Nintendo DS Lite (LOL). ;) :D I have seen very few fingerprints on the lid.

I get nice compliments on it from others, whenever I take it "out and about"! ;) :)
