I tell you, I have never been so frustrated with a shipping company in my life. #1 my package shipped on monday with next day deliver. I was told DHL got the package too late so it would not arrive until Wednesday, no big deal.

Today I wake up at 8:30 am, checked that it left with delivery courier already. I stayed around the house all day expecting the delivery to make it some what early since it left early in the morning. Noon rolls around and I hop online to check the tracking status. What does it say? Attempted Delivery, Recipient Not Home. I know for a fact its a lie because I was home all day and there was no notice on my front door.

I got to DHL's website to find their Customer Service #. I saw something about tracking chat so I went into that first where the woman said she supposedly contacted to local shipping center and was told they would deliver again today. She assured me it would be delivered. So i call the # anyway. I get a man who says he will send an email to the local center, and they would call me in an hour to give me my options. 2 hours later I no call. I call back and see what the problem was. They read me the # they had written down and they had it wrong. I gave the man the area code 973 and he wrote down 573. So thats why i get no phone call. I ask why did the driver not attempt delivery, and she couldn't give me a reason. She told me it would be delivered tomorrow, then I went on my rant and hung up.

I want to know who has also has problems with DHL, because they are just awful. This is my second time dealing with DHL, and let me tell you its not good. I vow never to use them for my own shipping needs. I refuse. This laptop better come tomorrow, because I will not drive an hour to go pick it up.

    any other horror stories?

I had something similar, except I think the guy did end up coming back later that day. But I know the guy never came buy the first time, because I was there the whole time. I wonder if the drivers have gotten into the habit of doing this (lying about deliver attempts) in order to finish their routes early or something? DHL also has common other inaccuracies in their tracking. When you call up, the operators either lie or don't know what you're talking about. At one point they were not allowing any sort of pickup in my area, but I think they do now. Yeah, so I don't like DHL, either. I think they are the low price carrier for some businesses, but individuals avoid them because of their reputation.

2 1530's on different ship dates, both were supposed to have overnight shipping.
Tracking info on their website stated courier had pkg / out for delivery,
each pkg ended up with no delivery for 4-5 days,I ended up driving to the DHL Hub ea time.

    Me too.

Here are my experiences with DHL
1st time ever they were great delivered promptly

2nd time they were great again delivered promptly

3rd time they gave me the run around for a week keeping my package inside their truck while I placed numerous phone calls to them and they kept guaranteeing my package would be delivered. Finally after a week later they deliver my package at 6:00pm after promising to deliver it at 2:15pm.

4th time this is my dell laptop. It was scheduled to be delivered on 12/31/2007 along with my lojack with overnight shipping. I find out my lojack is overnighted but for some reason it never left the airport in California. My computer was shipped GROUND but it arrived at my promptly local station because it was shipped from Nevada and I live in the Bay Area. I wait all day for it to arrive after confirming the address with the people on the phone TWICE. Monday comes and 30 minutes before they close I see a message on my tracking detail. They said they couldn't "find my house." Biggest BS excuse ever I call up DHL and confirm my address ask why my lojack isn't here yet and they have no answer. Then I had to wait till Wednesday cause DHL doesn't deliver "twice" and they took 1/1/2008 off. I immediately contacted DELL and got a 100$ credit back and 25 dollar coupon. 125$ for 2 wasted days. I was appeased but still pissed.

DHL acknowledged my shipping on a Sunday with next business day delivery. That would have made it Dec 24th. That didn't happen.
I called on Dec 24th to make sure they are not going to deliver it and I could pick it up myself whenever I want to. I was told I couldn't do that on Monday and would need to call back on Dec 26th.
So I called on Dec 26th early. I was told that my LoJack and the laptop would be placed on hold. So I left the house and logged two hours later on their webpage: Of course it was out for delivery. :-( I drove back home to find the door tag and LoJack lying on my front porch. I called and was asked if the driver should try to deliver again. I said "Sure. Before 4 pm." At 4:30 pm I lost my patience and called. The lady confirmed with the driver that he was not going to deliver. So I insisted on picking it up myself. She said I could do that at 7:30 pm the same day. So around 7 pm I arrive and the first driver I meet there told me (after having check with the office) that no packages would be handed out that night anymore. The second driver asked if I had a door tag and went into the same office. When he came back he told me to wait until 7:30 pm outside the office area. So I went there and saw a young lady walking into that office. I followed her and she asked me if she could help. I said "I would like to pick up my package." She said "We don't hand out any packages tonight". So I told her that I was told that I could pick it up that night.
In the end I had my package around 7:20 pm that night. These people can really give you the run-around. :-(

I hate to count my chickens before they've hatched, but Dell shipped my laptop via DHL a few days ago (nearly two weeks earlier than estimated). One day later, it arrived at the correct destination and is presumably sitting in my college mailroom, 2000 miles away, waiting for me to pick it up.

DHL stinks, they're overnight shipping is a joke. A rep from DHL once told me the overnight shipping is not a garentee the package will get there the next day. It is a promise they will try harder to get the package there faster. I dislike the Dell uses them.

Same thing here. To make matters worse, I live in a gated community with a security guard, who logs all incoming guest traffic (all delivery companies are 'guest traffic'). Nothing. I threw up a stink about it until DHL got the truck back to their shop and unloaded it so I could pick it up.

It's sad that Dell is allied with them, because I would truthfully pay a small amount more for Fed Ex/UPS (or any other company where the employees are smart enough to not drown in a rainstorm).

I guess we are lucky in Canada, here dell uses fedex. Anytime they have shipped anything to be it has been very fast. Sorry to hear these horror stories.

DHL along with customs kept my XPS M1330 held back at Airport for 24 days .....we had to do loads of paperwork and had to pay about $500 to get it out......(it got shipped from Singapore to Bangladesh in about 15 hours, but took 24 days to get it cross 8km)

Issues here too. Had to pick up both my Vostro's from DHL. Website said "out for shipment" two days in a row and never arrived or never even a notification. They said they were swamped and had to prioritize overnight and 2nd day packages over mine. What a load of hooey. Both times.

My company ships hundreds of packages a day. A few years ago our warehouse switched from UPS to DHL. It took about a week to realize that this was an utter disaster: lost packages, delayed items--even when guaranteed, etc. We switched back immediately.

I checked the tracking on the LoJack for haha's this evening (which stupidly gets shipped seperately from the system) and it stated it was delivered. I checked my porch, wasn't there. So I called DHL and they said the same thing, that it was delivered with nothing further to add. After dinner, I get a call from some random guy saying he recieved my package (good thing my phone number was on there huh?). The guy lives at the same street address.. 30 miles one way. I go get the LoJack software and ask the homeowner's if they'll be there on Monday for the delivery of the system itself, just in case. Thankfully, they will be. Anyways, I called back and barked at DHL to make sure it gets delivered to the right town. Suposedly, a notation was made for the driver to double check.

Guess we'll see what unfolds on Monday, right?

DHL has so many issues trying to get my Dell XPS system to me, they lied to me at least 4 times. Same deal too...they said it was out on delivery one day when it wasn't, said it was on hold when it wasn't, lied about the physical location of the computer, etc.

In the last email I had with DHL customer service, I informed them of how useless their company was and how I would never use their services again.

I hate DHL. My brother works for an airport and has to unload the packages from the DHL plane. He says if it's not broken by the time it gets to him it's broken by the time it leaves him. Literally, if something misses the conveyer belt they throw it off the plane into overfilled cargo basket and watch it hit the ground.

Ever see the beginning of the first Ace Ventura where he is abusing the package? That's about how it goes.

Don't blame DHL. It sounds like the Bangladesh import procedure has not changed in over 20 years. Back in 1984 I was working there for some months so I took some freight. I had to declare the freight shipment on the appropriate form when I arrived in the country. The shipment arrived and took a few weeks to extract and that was the normal paper process. Then I discovered something was missing. So I asked the shippers and got a reply that they had found the missing item and had sent it. However, because I had declared only one shipment the bureaucracy meant I could not clear this item through customs. Eventually I claimed it on insurance and I presume someone bought it at one of the auctions of uncleared goods.

Maybe I am the only one that has had great experiences with DHL. They always deliver ahead of schedule for me. Once, i missed their delivery and i called them and they sent the truck back a few hours later! The delivery guys are always very friendly. Then again, I have only had good experiences with all shipping companies.

Yup, exact same thing happened to me (but with Citylink or S_hitylink as i like to call em); 'attempted delivery' but no damn slip through the door and I was in all day waiting. Nothing more infuriating. I'm not too happy after reading this thread cus ive just sent some really important docs to south korea by DHL! (I thought because they were German they would be efficient :I)

Dhl stinks. they should get sued. They always lose my dell returns. Dell shipped us 5 more comps then we ordered once and dhl just literally threw them into there truck and broke them. Dell tried to get us to pay for them and we refused. dell wouldnt beleive me that dhl did it until i sent them video of the dhl driver doing it.

I hate dhl and cant understand why dell still uses them.
