I bet I am. My ship date is March 18th. I've got normal shipping but it may be upgraded to 2-day. That means somewhere in the 20th to 24th range.
-
There is a guy on this forum, http://www.i9200forums.com/ , that says his will arrive on Thursday.
By the way, mine is going to ship on 3/18 too. []
-
mine was shipped the other day.
-
What the hell. My ship date is the 24th and I ordered it before it was a public page. No strange options or anything. They hate Alaskans.
-
i ordered mine before it was public as well. it should arrive tomorrow.
-
Same here on the ordering as the site was going live.
Mine says 24th and is in testing phase now. At least you can look up and follow its progress. Good way to keep people from calling all the time! Patiently waiting. -
mine went from 'production' to 'shipped' in less than a day. i checked it this morning and it was still in production, this afternoon it was shipped... it wasn't scheduled to be shipped until march 30th... so don't lose hope.
-
I DO have overnight shipping.... Maybe I could stil beat you.
-
Well,I ordered when it went live just to make sure everything went smooth. HA HA.... Two order cancellations later they finally got the billing address right and the complete care. I hate that they have to cancel and re-order just to make changes like that. So, technically the final order was placed on the 7th. I hope it really does ship by the 18th.
-
And to whoever gets theirs first, please tell us for sure if the True Life is glossy. I know people in other posts have said it is, but it would be nice to have others confirm that as well.
-
Guess I'm part of the 3-18 club also, ordered on 3-4.
-
6:26 A.M. OUT FOR DELIVERY
-
3/18 delivery date.
impatiently waiting!
[]
cheers,
yass -
I got mine!

true life is glossy!
-
i believe i ordered mine through the home section w/ the $750 off coupon. I'm currently at work with the laptop, so I can't really test your music question.
-
Outz, how bad is the glossy screen? Is it if there is any light on the screen that it reflects everything? Or does it just look glossy all the time? Dang, i was hoping they have fixed this in the 9300, to bad there is no SXGA+ option, i would have went with that one over the XGA+ or UXGA+ just to be safe. Let us know!
*Dell Inspiron 9300, P-M 1.86ghz 533mhz FSB, 1GB DDR2 533mhz ram, 17inch UXGA+ screen with TrueLife, 256mb Nvidia GeForce 6800, 60gb 7200rpm drive, XP Pro SP2, WiFi*
*Sony MDR-G74SL Headphones for music and gaming, best 40 dollar pair i have ever bought!* -
I got mine through the "Personal Use" side of Dell. I don't know if I will make that mistake again.
-
Deathmojo, i don't believe outz was saying the screen is bad, just glossy, which is a good thing. Maybe you didn't read it in context??
-
yeh, the glossy screen is great! huge improvment from my ****iba. its gonna take me some time to get used to the 1900x1200 tho.. not to mention the keyboard. they have plenty of space, i wish they would have extended it out a bit more.
-
Ah ok!! Im glad, i did take it out of context. I just read so many bad things about the "glossy" I9200 WUXGA+ screen that i was worried about this one. Glad to hear it looks great. I can't wait to load up Halo, HL2, UT2K4 and WoW on this system! I had seen a 1900x1200 on a 15.4 inch, screen man was that tiny! Atleast we will have 17inch screens, help it a little, lol. Also, i agree on the keyboard, there is enough space below to rest a drink and maybe a sandwich [
] (Note: I would not recommend doing the last 2 things in my post!)

yeah, the 17" screen helps a bit with the 1900x1200 reolution. I have 20/20 vision and it still strains my eyes a little. im currently testing 1440x900. so far so good.
-
Like ALL glossy screens, the light reflection is bad! If you're easily annoyed (like me), with such screens, stay with the matte version.
BTW, if anyone wants increased contrast ala glossy screen for movies, buy some cheap glasses at the supermarket. The day-to-day slog of seeing reflections will wear down many....

The screen is awesome. Very nice.
I do agree with above post about keyboard, there is space to expand it a little - there is enough room to put my coffee on it. ha
But overall I think is fantastic. And no fan noise I can even hear, at least after an hour or two.
I will review more later. -
Yes, please review![8D]
Mine is expected Monday, but I ordered with the WXGA+ screen and I'm nervous about my selection.
If I don't like it I guess I can return it and order another with the UXGA screen.
Keep us posted on your review.
Huuuh. -
I haven't even gotten mine yet and I already hate the keyboard. There is so much wasted room! HP puts a number pad in there.
Can someone measure the actual width of the keyboard? I used Dells photo to measure the keyboard reletive to the 15.5" width, and it appears to be about 11", exactly the same as my full sized keyboard. Hmmm. Maybe it just LOOKS small? -
You are correct - it is about 11-2/8" or 11-3/8" for width of keyboard depending on the little gap around it. Then there is a good 2" clear on each side. And total is 15.5" wide as you said.
I like it and am using the side space for support when pressing number keys etc.
Couple of notes:
1. Batter life is as others have said in the 2+ hour range but I had brightness up. I noticed that the light from the screen at night is so bright that it lights up the keyboard nicely. I don't need that little usb light that i had on my other notebook. Nice.
2.Quality seems very good and keyboard support (one of my gripes with all notebooks) seems very good. The upper right seems a tad bit less solid, but not even really noticable.
3.The size is fairly big, my wife said holy ___t that screen is huge. But that was next to her 14.1 dell latitude. But, we picked them up and mine felt lighter than hers! She was just envious of the nice screen. So, yes it is a little wide, meaning the 15.5", but to me pretty light weight. I will put them on the scale later. But very mobile - I will have to get a new bag that is a little bit wider so this can slip in.
All for now, I have to reload windows today and start clean cause there is too much stuff on my HD that I do not want.
You will love you new i9300 when it comes. -
I totally agree about the weight. I've had numerous people pick it up and be surprised that it didn't weigh a ton.
-
Can someone confirm that the 9300 does/doesn't have a built in microphone?
Also, does the 9300 ordered thru the small business section come with the Dell Media Experience (ie does it play cd's/dvd's without powering on the notebook)?
Thanks -
Hi, I got a question about purchasing a notebook through Dell Business customer site. SInce there was 35% off coupon last week, which was only for small business customer, I ordered 9300 as a business customer. When you order through business customer site, do you actually have to be business person??
-
it doesnt have a builtin mic.
-
Kita, which battery are you getting the 2+ hours from: 6-cell or 9-cell? I really hope that's not the 9cell.
-
Naishokun,
You are technically supposed to be associated with a small business, and if they find out that you aren't they can cancel your order. However, unless you are applying for financing, they will not check your business name against the list of registered businesses. Even if they do, and find out that your business is bunk, they will probably still let you buy it, but not finance it.
-
No it is only the 6-cell. I should have upgraded, but was planning on getting a second battery anyway.
If ordering, I would def. get the 9-cell. -
I ordered mine on the 9th so it is supposed to ship on the 25th and get to me by the 29 because it ships on a fridayand I have 2nd business day shipping.

After many trials with Dell, including the back-ordered NVIDIA 6800 cards and an order that sat in pre-production for a week, I am pleased to say my 9300 shipped out yesterday and will be delivered tomorrow. This is 6 days earlier than originally estimated.
Lesson Learned: Just because your order sits for a while or a part is back-ordered, this is NOT an indication of when you will get your computer.
Perhaps all my complaining on the Dell Community Forum helped, too. I don't know.

Wow! I didn't know when I ordered this computer a month ago that it was so new. I just went to the Dell website and placed an order for the laptop that most appealed to my needs which happened to be the i9300.
Anyway, I've had this computer for a couple of weeks now. I love it. Of course my last computer was almost seven years old so nearly anything would have been an improvement. This is my first laptop. The wide screen is very sharp and beautiful. I don't like the silver color or white trim. I prefer the look of black or dark grey but didn't buy this unit for it's looks.
I work for a newspaper as a Page Designer (the actual paper, not the web version), writer and photographer. I wanted a machine that would allow me to work with my large digital photos easlily and also wanted something capable of downloading and burning to DVD my home movies.
So far this machine as been a complete joy. I have yet to work with the video as I'm still looking for a good software program, but as for the digital photography and ripping CD's to my new Creative Zen Micro MP3 player, I couldn't be happier. I have not used it on the battery yet as it's primarily a desktop unit, but I wanted a laptop for the rare occaision I travel. I like the touch pad mouse, this being my first one of those and have had no problems getting used to that. I think I will add a USB keyboard down the line as writing on the unit up on the desk is too high and uncomfortable on my recently surgically repaired shoulder.
I will comment more as I go. My one negative comment would be the lack of decent software that came with the computer. Most of the Dell supplied stuff seems to be low end versions that every few times I boot up launch a promotion to 'upgrade' to the better, fuller versions. Sad. For what I paid for this thing is should have a whole lot more quality software on it. The last Dell I bought (a hundred years ago) came with the full version of MS Office. This time I got Word Perfect. At least there is a 'Word' mode in that, although I have yet to try it.
I'm new to this forum, this being my first post ever. Glad to be here and feel free to ask any questions about the unit and I'll be glad to try to answer them or perform something I haven't tried yet.
Methos -
i had I9200, it used the same type of battery except i had the 9 cell, and with surfing the web, wireless connection and just doing nominal tasks, i could only get about 4 hours and 20mins out of that.

just ordered mine today came out to $1975 with shipping and tax (35% off coupon). Scheduled to ship on april 7th. This is going to be my first laptop and only my second computer ever. Thanks to every one on here for posting there comments about the laptop.
1.86ghz, 1 gig ram, 256 mb graphics, 80gb hard drive, uxga display, xp pro, 2 years warranty and accidental damage. -
here's some positive info:
i originally ordered 9300 on March 16th. On March 18th I realized i had been stupid in ording the 100GB drive instead of the 60GB 7200rpm drive. So i called and changed it, effectively cancelling the oringal order and creating a new order dated March 18. The estimated ship date through yesterday was April 4, but today I checked and it was shipped, to arrive on monday. Thus, effective order date = March 18, ship date = March 24. Not bad.
(2Ghz, 1GB, 60GB7200, 6800, truelife, etc.)
btw, too bad i know see that had i used the current 35% off coupon, i could have upgraded to 2GB memory and only spent something like $150 more. Oh well....)
Who is getting their i9300 first in the US!!!!
