I sure love mine. It has been super stable, runs smooth and cool, does all the gaming I want, and looks pretty nice (Im more for the plainer spartan look over flashy designs). It has been up and running pretty much 24/7 since I got it at the beginning of this year.

Basically with all the negative posts about dell and other brands, Im trying to bring positiveness to this forum. All I ever see is complaints so lets turn those frowns upside down and post your positive thoughts on your dell.

Though not in my own personal experience.....my dad had a Dell Latitude which lasted him nearly six years!!!! He had no problems at all except for one small HD problem which was quickly and easily resolved. It was top of the line when he bought it and lasted him will through the past years.....go dell.

Dell support for XPS series is excellent.
One thing I should recommend Dell is trade-in systems. This systems could bring many old customers back to Dell.

Me loves my Dell :) and have been in love for like many many years :) At least for me, their support here, particularly the XPS support has been great.. even now when ever I call the tech support to get some information or ask something, its been really nice experience. I find Dell to be nice, have not had any real problems with their systems as such :) :) wonderfully stable (3 desktops, 2 laptops experienced till now) Some very minor issues, as is with every manufacturer and electronic item existing in the world, but for me thats not a big deal at all :) and in any case, their support was always there to guide me fixing it.... Go for Dell!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)

PS., nice thought behind this thread :) I like it.

I have had great success with all of the Dell systems I have owned. The only one that I didn't like as much was my Inspiron 5160 which had a lot of issues including the mobile P4 which was just blazing hot.

My Dimension 4600 is still running strong (well it should considering I upgraded alot of parts on it). Only problem I've had with it was the onboard audio going to hell but that was a small fix. Inspiron 6000 I was really disappointed with for the first few years we had it (I think Dell doesn't know how to install an operating system ;)) ... but after putting in 2 x 1 GB sticks of RAM in it and reformating, that baby rips. So after modifying my computers slightly I've had great success :D. And now I have a new laptop on the way.

Great to hear some positive responses among the sea of negative threads. All I ever see in brand forums are complaints, trash talks, and insults about a company. We need more positive then negative...

You can't blame people who trash talk about Nvidia and the whole GPU issue, though yes, it is nice that there are plenty of positive responses out there and people who still love their Dell's. Come on, the Dell section has the largest number of viewers. We have to set a good example don't we? :)

At the time of writing the following are the Top 2 Brands in Current Viewers on NBR:

    Dell (455 Viewing)
HP, Compaq and Voodoo PC (254 Viewing)

I love all my dell computers.
I have my backup XPS m1530 (bought i early september 07) with the 8400GS, done alot of gaming, downloading, videos and i leave it on 24/7. Nothing broke or no gpu failling, That's why im starting to think this nvidia thing is overblown.
My Dell xps 410 is running strong as my desktop with the 7950GTX and my other dell dimension with the x1650 is great as well.

The only kinda little mark i will note is that my main laptop (in my sig) has had a few issues, which are being taken care of wiht a replacement.

    Only posistives.

All my family owns a dell.

Negativity? You must have been reading my posts : )

Its true in the service world that people are MUCH more likely to bash than applaud, but truly, I am not asking for much. Just quality and consistency, and service that accommodates and follows up, not blocks and bulls****. If its any consolation, I can't think of many computer vendors that offer all that.

That being said, so far, I LOVE my 1420. Especially now that I am rid of my awful grainy screen. It seems to really rip at times, its a great size, and the keyboard is almost nicer than my regular desktops. Its amazing to have a portable device that can surf the net, burn a DVD and run a decent video game in the background without a hiccup. That's feeling the power. And at a pretty decent price, thanks to the seemingly endless supply of valuable coupons. Now, hardware crisis' aside, I am just crossing my fingers that it is going to run a good, long time. At least a few years please!

I love my Dell XPS M1530, but the Nvidia 8600M GT problem is a major disaster. I have had a few occasional BSODs and issues due to it, but it's hard to say whether i can blame that yet or not.

BSODs may not be due to the graphics card. If you actually had a GPU burnout, you would not have a display to show you anything. If the Blue Screen shows up with PAGE_FILE_something something, then it is probably your hard drive or your processor.

Actually you can still get a BSOD without a working GPU. You only need a GPU to render 2D and 3D graphics. The BSOD is a DOS-like text screen, like the BIOS POST - you don't need a graphics card to display it. A GPU is not a display. :)

Mine is 2 years old and still kickin'. Of course, a re-install once XP SP3 came out had something to do with this. Along with the RAM and HDD upgrades I did myself.

I'd love an m1330, but I just don't have the cash to spend on it.

I think this is the first system I have owned where I plan to run regular backups - images in case it fails. That of course, is because it is a laptop and will be hard to rescue if anything important fails. Of course, once the 1-yr warranty is up, I'll probably reformat the hell out of it and really try to get it rockin'. Then it is getting sold, recycled, or given to a child . . .

My computing dream is to build another custom desktop, quad core, huge HDD's, sick graphics, crazy display, and it probably will cost less than this laptop did! Gotta be portable for now.

    w00t, great thread.

I love my XPS M1530. I've had if for a week and a half now, and the thing is SEXY man! You look at it in pictures and videos, but then once you get it it just look so much nicer. Plays games flawlessly (cod4, ut3, assassin's creed), and the keyboard is absolutely perfect. I also really like the quiet sound of the "clickers". Ahhh, so happy with my decision.

Yeah, the LED makes all the games feel like you could walk into them doesn't it? :)

Another very proud Dell XPS owner here! After about 10 years of stumbling my way through using Macs (they truly are NOT user friendly imo) I convinced my parents to buy a Dell. Got our first PC desktop in '98 and haven't looked back since. Got an Inspiron for college in '03 and it was rock solid for the past 5 years. Decided to upgrade to my current notebook so I could try out Vista and I love it! Couldn't be happier with my new setup.

Im so happy with mine that I am starting a savings fun for my next dell 17in...the dell XPS 17XX whatever. SO what ever the top gaming 17in is will probably be my next main rig unless Im forced to upgrade due to job and whatnot (Im going to be applying to a game company local to me within the next month.

    But keep the praise coming!

I am very happy with all of my Dell systems. I am especially fond of my Precision M90 and M1730 but I have very fond memories of my 700m and Precision M70 systems. I also have a Precision 530 from 2001(?) and a Precision 670 desktop from 2004 that are still running flawless.

I love my D620 (one of the machines I use for work) and love it even more so since installing Vista Business. I think the keyboard on it is second only to the keyboard on my MacBook Pro, and this thing can handle anything that I throw at it.

Back from vacation with the dell and man even though its 17in behemoth it traveled well in the car and was a sight of awe from family members who came to my hotel room. I love being able to game at 1920x1200 res while on vacation and have my 12in doing work duty.

Hey welcome back liquidxit2! Haven't seen you in quite a bit.

Whatever the case, its nice to know that everyone skipping over Dell to buy an HP notebook or whatnot thinking they are free with the 9xxx series card from the defect are just as affected by it like the 8xxx series card. Its like a huge smack in the face. I had a feeling this was coming.

I'm guessing part of the reason for the delay is Dell watching this issue and probably is working out a deal with ATI so that when Dell launches their new refreshes, they will be what everyone wants since every other manufacturer who has released their new montevina lines are stuck in a contract with Nvidia.

Yeah despite having DDR2 its an awesome rig to game and multitask on. Although I have the new HP tablet and am excited it just hasn't been able to replace the dell, and I cant wait to get home and run some TF2 or UT3 on it.
