    Hi guys:

    I recently installed source on my 1420, 2.2 ghz, 160 gb7200 rpm, 4gb ram, 8400GS and i can say that CS:S runs like sh*t at 1440x900

    Even at 1280x800 it will still not run smoothly with a constant 60 fps or something.

    will a 8600GT be able to do this?

    Playable = average 30 FPS, not 60.

    I get a constant 40+ on 1280x800. Wouldn't that be playable?
    Playable is around 30 as Lithus said, 60 is optimal..

    The Source Engine games are some of the most versatile I've seen in terms of requirements. If CS:Source is even somewhat playable on my 7 year-old desktop with a GeForce4 MX420, then I see no reason why the Vostro 1400 with dedicated graphics wouldn't be able to run comfortably. I play fine with 1280x800, everything bumped up, and no AA/AF. Have you tried updating your video drivers?

    You've got issues with your lappy pal....

    I get 30+ fps no problem, system in sig.

    I have you didn't turn up AA and AF all the way up lol.
