The white trim especially ?
It SO does not look elegant, or sleek, or cool.
Looks like something a highschool cheerleader would design![]()
At least they did not put in a pink body![]()

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I happen to like the look.

I personally don't care for the white, but my wife loves it and a buddy who has a MBP likes it... Go figure...
-
I prefer black over white (as in XPS M170), but the white/silver scheme doesn't look horrible either. When the fist Inspirons with the current scheme came out, I liked them a lot. But now the design is out of date and over used. Still I think there are much worse looking notebooks out there. As Lysander said, it depends on the individual.
-
I have no problem with it, I actually like it -
I like it, has a very clean business-like look to it.
-
I actually think the Inspiron is one of the best looking laptops. Its design is beautiful, and prestigious. I also think asus's G1/G2 look pretty cool as well. To contrast, I think all of the IBM-lenovo laptops are pretty much as ugly as a laptop can get. But that's just me...

I don't care about the white and silver, what matters is that it works. I think it is out of date and not to attractice myself (After owning an Inspiron for so long I am actually pretty numb to the design). There are people out there who seem to really like to look of my laptop, and there are those who don't. I sometimes take it out in public with me and on one occation I overheard a guy in an MBP making fun of my Dells look. Okay a get it but how rude! I agree there are uglier notebooks out there, Gateway and the new Silver Edition HPs come to mind. BTW, consiquently I have found the Inspiron design to actually be more durable than than HP's current design. My laptop is over a year old and only has a few scuffs and scratches. My sister's less than 6 month old Dv2000 looks like its been threw hell and back.
-
I would have to say it's not the most attractive notebook, but not the ugliest either I can live with the white trim but would also like a different option, then again functions is my main buying point.
-
the white trim is okay... but i think theres definitely some alternative to the white trim that would make it look better.
what i don't like is the material of the white trim, it feels and looks like cheap plastic. overall though, i like the silver design -
is their a new design coming with santa rosa in may? Inspirion 9500/9450?
-
no. probably not, michael dell is too lazy to give this tasks,..
-
Well, I hope whomever made the design lost his job...or got reassigned.
-
-
Well considering that they are pretty old designs and noticeable enough for it to be discussed on a thread pretty much says it all doesn't it.
-
They are ugly. Sorry.
-
I think the designs identify the "brand" of the laptop. IBM-Lenevo has kept their design because it identifies their laptop. People recognize it when they see it. Whether or not someone will like a design is up to the individual however.

Interesting, I didnt know there existed people who liked the inspiron design
I actually like the thinkpad design a lot. So professional looking.
I have a 7 year old inspiron, all black. I like that color scheme.
I find the white macbooks to be silly too -
I think any painted non custom notebook sucks the big one. Especially mine, where I still haven't learned to keep my nasty paws off the palm rest. Our 1705's have white plastic with a silver paint overcoat palm deck. I do wish Dell would issue a black rubber coat magnesium deck for drooling gamers like me
-
I MUCH prefer the look of the Latitude line.
-
It's hideous, but hey, it's cheap!
-
The disgusting white bumpers on the Inspiron's (along with Dell's overpriciness and dumb marketing tactics) were one of the reasons I decided to go with an HP Pavilion instead of an Inspiron. Although the Thinkpads are the ugliest, at least they have a reason to be... business notebooks aren't supposed to be flashy. Inspiron's on the other hand, just look stupid imho
-
Yes. It's true.
I bought the XPS just because it looks cool.

NOOOTTTT!!! -
id have to say some with stability and business style in mind. i love the way these things look, especially over some other brands.
-
but to be honest, i dont really mind what it looks like (within reason) as long as it performs well -
I just wish they could put a thin rubber shield around the cd drive so it wouldnt shake
-
i wish so many of you wouldn't complain, the I6400 can be equipped to performance very well for a good price. It's ALWAYS going to be performance>appearance for me. It's not like it looks bad enough for you to be embarrassed about taking it around. I know it's definitely not the best looking, but all this bashing is kind of ridiculous lol.
-
I personally think the white bumpers on it makes it look like its the cheapest consumer notebook ever made. They should of at least panted the body and the bumpers the same color. I guess they are trying to make it more durable but if you want to add plastic lining at least do it where it looks decent.
Dell's Latitude line looks really nice while also being business like.
Thinkpads have a sophisticated business charm with them. -
looking at a thinkpad makes me snore
-
it seems nice looking to me
-
I'll even apply new silver spray on the palm rest
Who the heck designed the inspirons ??
