I have been watching these forums for a while. Everyone remembers the bad. How many people were just happy and excited about their XPS laptop the first time around?

ps...seems like the people that got the duds posted..i would too. Just trying to be pro-active and root for the good ones we got. :)

I've ordered two 1521's (for my wife and daughter) and I've had time to play around with them for a bit, since they are Christmas gifts. Both seem to be stellar machines, and I know they will like them. I was pretty happy with the performance (even better when I bumped up the RAM to 2GB) as well as the fit and finish.

1720, nothing to fault so far (Just an annoying buzzing noise when screen brightness is less than the brightest setting, not really a fault in my books).

Mine was flawless too, although I caused problems dropping it on the screens edge, then kicking it in the process.. Regardless Dell send the new parts out and everything is good still.

I absolutley LOVE my 1520. No problems what so ever. I do notice SLIGHT headphone static, but not enough to bother me. I may have not even noticed it, if I wasn't made aware by reading the posts about it, on this forum! I actually bought a 1720 for my mom and another 1520 for my girlfriend within the past month. No Problems with either of them.

I have a Vostro 1500 and I love it so far. Handles games like a dream, doesn't have the CPU whine everyone complained about, no screen issues... Nothing!

Speakers aren't bassy enough though! Haha.

That's the problem with message boards. Usually you hear the bad and not the good. People inherently love to *****.

While I have had crappy Dell products in the past, the fact that they do overnight cross shipment, and continue to do so without question, until they deliver the quality product I know it can be, keeps me as a customer.

I have a Dell 2407WFP and had to exchange it two times, but the final product is excellent. I have a Dell 2005FPW and had to exchange that one three times, but the final product was excellent. My Vostro 1500 I had to exchange once, but the end product was excellent.

Dell can make quality product, it's just that they are wasting their own money by not having better quality control and cross shipping and having to refurbish and resell the returned products. Most companies would go under by now because of that, but because they're so huge and sell so many PC's they can manage it somehow.

koo, nope, standard return to depot.

htwingnut, I agree. And the fact sometimes they'll give you 'upgrades' when getting replacements is even more awesome. I don't know how they make a profit though doing stuff like that..
