Hmm I wouldn't as it would restart the whole process if that happened

If you can get away with anything I would ask for some sort of refund/money off.

Laptop specs and order details in sig.

My laptop had been to production couple of times now but had been back to preproduction again......My rep and some manger in CS say that they can not exactly tell when my laptop will be shipped as they have problem with WXGA true life screens.

They say its a global issue and can not give any compensations or money offs....They say nothing is in their hands......Very hard to get hold of dell.

Well I just got off the Phone to Dell, they now think I own my fathers business and the lil' Irish lady at the other end has taken down my phone number to call me back this evening, in my opinion I'll believe it when I'll hear it, if not Dell will get a right Bullocking the next day...she didn't say why the Estimated Time was as such, I did mention that I was a returning customer and requested that I'd be transferred to someone with DOMS access...asked for compensation and she said once we have more information - so I demanded when, and she said she'd phone tonight; should I keep my hopes up?

Just got off the phone with dell. The guy apparently says that the EMEA order status site is having problems updating and he confirmed that my order was actually in stage 3 (production)... only time will tell.

Also mentioned shortage of parts but didn't mention any specifics or whether my order was affected...

I hope that 8min call wasn't a complete waste of time and money.

Ah that probably explains the strange behaviour of the EMEA page going back and forth. Good luck with yours!

I also ordered my vostro 1500 yesturday with an EDD of 21/09. Currently stuck in pre-prodcution like the rest of you guys. This is my 3rd dell system in recent years and the other two both wizzed through into production within hours of ordering.

Just noticed this when you order a Vostro 1500 at the moment. I didn't see it when I ordered.

"Please be advised that there currently is an delivery time of approximately 3 weeks on Vostro 1500. We apologise for the inconvenience. For faster delivery, we have a range of great offers running on Vostro 1000 systems right now, which may also meet your requirements".

So I guess our 21st September dates are going to be about right.

I wonder what is going on?

It doesn't take nearly a month to make a batch of screens and ship them to the factories does it!??!

I ordered my vostro 1500 on the same day and also got the same estimate of 19th Sept. My rep says that mine is still in production even though the site says it's in pre-production, any luck with your rep?

Also did you ask for compensation for delayed order?

According to a decent, polite speaking rep at UKI Support, my order by her records shows that my laptop is in Production....if you haven't guessed - it is a Vostro 1400..

With all due respect, since you're asking for UK only, you're probably English. If so, you probably know that your title should read "whose", not "who's" (twice).

I just advised someone to order a Vostro and I hope it makes it in good time as he's starting university.

Actually my friend, when using the term "Whose" the Oxford dictionary dictates it should be used in certain situations matey, as in "Whose is this" etc... ;)

I don't you see flying Jumbo Jets so there is no need to correct my spelling matey. ;)

yep same for me, EMEA has finally updated. Not sure why it would take 3 days to actually build the thing...(especially if they have all the parts for it)

I ordered a 1400 today which was in pre-prodction with EDD of 25/09, then some wanker from dell called up late at nite asking to comfirm my postcode. Next minute I look online and the ****ing order has been cancelled with NO email or explanations.... so pissed off  Will never buy dell again.

Ordered two 1500's, on the 28th, both went into pre-production, today (1st sept) one changed to production but the date it went into this process according to dell was way back on the 28th but this hadn't happened till today so I don't think you can rely to heavily on the EMEA site.

Edit, checked again this evening and both systems are in production, but both still say the 28th.

Edit next day: 02/09 and one of the systems has been dispatched.
