    Hey all,

Dell *just* completely changed over their online store layout when you try to configure a system. (I was right in the middle of a config was wondering why certain options that existed earlier today were disappearing...then all of a sudden...new interface).

Not sure if they are testing it for certain people or if it's for everyone...but check it out...very cool...looks to be more logical than the old one. :)

    CJ :)

Same as earlier today for me, now if they just had a 14 inch notebook with dedicated graphics...........

Try another browser or deleting your cache at all? Maybe they are staggering the rollout...but it's very interesting...it has a "tabbed" layout that walks you through each step...

Then at the end it "analyzes" your config and makes "recommendations" (read: UPSELLS) before you buy it. It's much cleaner...and makes it easier to get info on some of the products and upgrades (although it's still the same info as before).

Now if they'd just add back in the mouse options...and the second battery... grr...

Huge change. There are "tabs" at the top that move you through 4 parts of building it. Then there are icons at the bottom for each "part" of the package you're creating. A big tally of the price in upper right side...and then as you change things from the "base" config (which is constantly listed on the right side) it changes the background color...so you can see what you added/upgraded at a glance, no matter where you are in the process.

The old view is called "list view" and you can switch between that and the new "icon" view. And EACH section that was in the old list view now gets it's own page...so you make one selection then click "Next Component" then make that selection, etc. You can click the icons at the bottom or anything in the list on the right to jump right to that selection. Very interactive. :)

It's only showing up in my IE browser at the moment...not Firefox one.

Haven't cleared cache and I've tested in IE and Firefox. I'm not even looking to buy right now but I'm curious to see it! :)

It's pretty wild - it's more user friendly and allows you to change things quicker (and the best part is your system is always listed on the right hand side...so you can see all the components and changes at a glance...) I'm guessing they are doing testing of this right now and I lucked out....based on everyone's response above.

I feel bad since nobody else other than this guy has seen the new layout so I will back him. Try the dell.ca site, because that is where I have seen it. It is available on the Inspiron 9400 and XPS M1710 sites. It is actually a better way of organizing the configuration section.
