Is it just me or did Dell really up their prices. For the moderately configured machine the base price is listed above 2,000 to begin with. This seems high to me, but I think they dropped the 7900GS card down a few dollars (not much though).![]()

actually they dropped the price compared to last week (that was horrible). But i want them to drop a little bit more so i can buy it.
-
Sorry, my fault. I was configuring the wrong one. The bookmark that I had was for the wrong preset configuration. Yeah, I see now that prices have dropped, much better than last week.
-
Its because they still have 35% coupons floating around that were mailed out, they expire the 19th... I just bought my E1505 today and got it all maxed out and shipped with tax for only $1460.00, using a 35% coupon...
-
I have one too...but I dont know if i should wait till they expire, then will there be better deals?
-
Nice deal . -
Dell usually does screw with their prices every now and then. Wait a week or two and you will be fine.
-
Also looks like they upped their prices because for some models they are now including a "free" bluetooth upgrade and wireless router.
So technically it's not "free" since the price is higher since last week when they didn't include that stuff. It still is cheaper than if you priced it alst week and included the wireless router and bluetooth upgrade I believe. -
They just raised them again, i configured a E1505 at $840 after shipping, now if i do the same specs i am at almost 1000. I noticed they took out some of the free offers to, such as the free 80gb HD upgrade. There is no free upgrades anymore. Guess i won't be ordering for a few weeks.
-
i think even those with the 35% coupon should still wait if they can, seems like the prices will drop dramatically.

If you see a good deal from Dell, and you could really use a laptop, don't skip over a nice price just because you might be able to get it at a later time for cheaper. Of course you will. But, it comes at the expense of time.
Gee, if I had money and I could settle for an X1400 as a video card, I would've bought a maxed out E1505 last night.
The specs were:
1.83 Core Duo Processor
2 GB of RAM
100 GB 7200rpm Hard Drive
SXGA+ screen
X1400
9 and 6 cell battery for a measly $1250 + tax and shipping -
i think july will have best deals.
i think that they would try to get all their core duos out
but its all speculation lol -
no i think July is too close. Maybe August when everybody talks for Merom , and having Core Duo is something normal.
-
not sure I understand the fuss...although they bumped up the price on the t2400, you can still get a e1705 nicely configured (t2400/gs7900/80gb 5400/BT/wuxga/1gb 533 ram) for about $1350 after $750 off $1999 and $35 of $300....about $75 more than when I bought mine last month.
-
One thing that kills the price is the Hard drive. a 100 gig 7200 rpm cost a lot. Any advice on how to get one on newegg.com that would be compatible with the e1705?
-
You just have to play with it each week to get an idea of prices to your configurations and then order when the price is right, sometimes you want prices to be high so you can get ur laptop over 2,000 and then slap the 750 off coupon on it, other times its better lower.
Also, it again depends on configurations, I would suggest always starting with the lowest package that still offers a core duo, and work your way up. Also many weeks Dell offers a free 1 gb upgrade, and if you want 2gb of RAM, that IS NOT the week to buy, because they will charge you the whole 300 dollars to move from the 1 gb to the 2 gb. I have been configuring the e1505 for about two months now with various coupon codes and what not, and this weeks prices with a 35% off coupon is the best ive seen so far for MY configurations...Just get an idea of prices and strike when its low... For me it was this week, for others next, also check ebay for coupons such as the 35% off mail out that i used this week... -

I think late august or early september would be a great time to buy a dell. This is after the merom cpu's, and also doesnt dell have monster back2school prices? There are usually 750 off 1500, correct? If only I can last to that time, my puny celeron is killing me.
-
I know what you mean lahomey, i sold my 9300 and now i have a desktop, i want a 1505 so bad but i also want to save the most i can
Note to poster: Please refrain from cursing. -
The problem with merom cpu is that it comes out to PC mid-July, who knows it might come out to laptops. Probably november or even winter. So i guess its going to be a long wait. One whole summer without gaming...
Whoaaa, Dell pricing?
