According to reviews and personal benchmarks the new AMD Trinity APUs for overall performance are very competitive and actually offers more what Intel laptops without discrete GPU. Not mention the price advantages, and other benefits what lower power consumption involve. Unfortunately Dell does not have a single Trinity laptop, while only have one model from the previous Llano generation.

If customers are interested buying Trinity laptops, than Dell why will pass this opportunity?

    AMD cannot supply enough chips?

Intel and Dell worries AMD products will confuse us?

    Anti-competitive practices still exist?

    Other Reason?

Because the economy is kind of dead and consumer PC market is shrinking. Maybe there is no reason to risk and make other line? AMD cpu = amd chipset = new supply, new contract, new tech support etc.

I think partially is people's qualms about AMD. You can ask why no real Lenovo ThinkPad has ever used AMD x86 cpus. No TPM support. They will have them no doubt, probably later in the year.

If PC market is shrinking, should not they try stronger with less-expensive and different laptops? AMD Trinity APU contains chipset, CPU and GPU. AMD also includes drivers on their website. I do not think it is more effort than building Intel+Nvidia laptops and providing the necessary support... And if they make new contracts with Intel CPUs, Nvidia GPUs, AMD GPUs, than why cant they make AMD APU contract?

When Bestbuy had inventory of HP Pavilion M6-1035dx (A10-4600M) was always their best selling laptop. I think people would love a good looking A10 Trinity laptop for good price, but how if missing from the selves?

I've wondered about this also, but I suspect it's a combination of two factors, that Dell never was a primary partner to AMD, and I read somewhere that AMD has a limited supply of Trinity products, but an excess of Llano.
Consequently, it may be a while before Dell releases any Trinity products, at which point Intel's Haswell will almost be ready. Haswell is reputed to have twice the GPU performance of Ivy bridge, and we know Dell gets first cut at Intel products.

BTW, not that it matters, but Best Buy does carry an AMD Llano based Dell Inspiron.

Yes, the limited supply of Trinity products sounds more real. That could explain lots of things, but I have not seen that reading yet. Can you dig out for me?

There is no perfect Trinity laptop for sure, I'm still hesitating which one to buy. I still do not know why Dell do not have Trinity laptops!? After selling out the last Llano chips with Vostro 3555, maybe Dell will get a pack of Trinity chip supply?
