So I recently purchased a Inspirion 1501 for $449, free shipping. A week later the Vostro's appear so I said damn I want one. Well my 1501 was already assembled and on its way. I called Dell and they said no problem we'll take it back no restocking fee, but I needed to accept the package.

No problem I said and I did just that. They followed up with a phone call and the CSR put me thru to his supervisor. She made an offer I couldn't refuse. If I kept the laptop they would credit me $75. So I said yeah or I could send it back with no restocking fees etc.. :D

The final costs of of brand new 1501...... $374.

First off the 1501 is a steal and is a real nice notebook even at $600. I ordered it with the glossy finish and the screen is very bright actually a little brighter than my T60 LG screen. The keyboard also is nice, doesn't look too flashy but somewhat stylish. I don't understand how some don't like the silver with the white bumper accents. I think it looks rather cool if you ask me.

This only happened because like I mentioned earlier I ordered a Vostro 1500 with full intentions of sending the 1501 back unopened as i'm awaiting the Vostro. They knew that and since the 1501 is not a current model they rather drop the price than be stuck with it. :)

I don't think this would have happened if I called wanting to return the Vostro as that would sell very quickly if it went back unopened. My dilemma is I plan on keeping the Vostro. Now I went from a T60 three months ago to a 1501 and now a Vostro 1500 early next month.

Why do I love Dell? I got the config in my sig for $1100 after taxes (already a steal), and I have been promised a $100 credit when my order is shipped, $100 accessory coupon when my order is shipped, and an additional $100 credit if my order does not ship next business day shipping. Wee!

Nah I decided to keep it. My 4yr Inspiron 5100 has started acting up. My friend and his wife need a laptop so i'll give them that one. I'll use the 1501 for surfing the web and stuff.

The Vostro i'll use strictly for offline RTS games.
