    Hi!

I thought that after all the complaints on DELL laptops and customer care,
everybody who is at least a bit happy with it, can share their experience
so we can have a wider picture of this producer.

    - Are you happy with your Dell laptop?
    - What did you like about Customer Support? How did they solve your problem?
    - Why do you love Dell?

    Best regards!

Yes i am happy with my Dell systems (own 3)
Tech support will never dispute a dispatch when replacement is required
I love the entry level offerings, Dell is expensive on the upsells though.

Overall when you choose the right config, you get well your moneys worth an some! However sometimes Dell seems to eager and they need to spend a bit more time on pre-launch and don't create demand and set expectations too early

-I like my inspiron 6400 because it's extremely well built. I had a Toshiba Satellite M40 before that and I was pretty disappointed about the build quality.

-Never had to call customer support since I bought my laptop 6 months ago.

    -build quality, low price

I actually have a family member working for Fujitsu (one of the suppliers to Dell). From what he said, Dell is one of the pickiest OEMs in the computer industry - which is a good thing i guess... I've also owed a couple Dell notebooks and a desktop in the past - all were pretty decent and lasts 3+ years without any serious issues. HOWEVER, owning a Dell is such a cliche IMO. There are a lot of better notebooks out there that many people haven't heard of and should explore before committing on buying "another" Dell.

Yes, I had to wait for 4-5 weeks but Dell overnighted my daughters Alpine White, 1520, T7100, 7200 160 HD, Web cam, and more. I did find that the 9 cell stuck out and never found anything that indicated that in their ordering pages and marketing pages. Called customer service and they were sorry, offered me a 6 cell for $20 or so and I ordered one. A few days later I saw it was canceled so I emailed the original person I ordered it from and two days later got an email that said sorry, a wrong number was entered. Next day I got a 6 cell for FREE. Bye the way, the ordering page for batteries now says it sticks out 1/2 inch or so. Bye the way, my daughter loves the computer and it is working GREAT. Dell ROCKS!!!

Dell will replace your New system until you are happy with it. There is always short wait or no wait if using the online chat customer service support. Dell will make sure your system is running correctly; if Dell can't fix it, it will ship you a new unit. This is why I buy my FOURTH Dell laptop.

The reasons I bought my FIRST, SECOND, AND THIRD Dell laptops are because they are durable, reliable, and seem never break down.

Yeah, try getting Sony or Toshiba to replace your laptop. GOOD LUCK!!

They are the 2 worst companies when it comes to CS. I find that Dell will pretty much bend over backwards to make sure your happy....

I got my laptop for ~$1060 shipped, and a week or so later HP did a 30% off coupon, and since it was a much better deal I called Dell to return my laptop. When I said I was returning it because HP had a cheaper system with better specs, they credited me $160 in exchange for not returning it. They were also very quick in getting my laptop to me, the total time from ordering to receiving the replacement was like 14 business day.

Another thing I really love is the scroll sliders on the touchpad. Every time I use another laptop now, I find myself sliding my finger down the right side of the touchpad a few times before I realize what I'm doing. xD

Well, I wanted a laptop, because my desktop was really, really out of date. Didn't wanna part with 1000-2000 dollars cash at the time - So Dell with they're extremely good financing options is what sold me. I had not had any experience with Dell or any other PC manufactures because I always made my own builds.

Ordered a 1520 the day of release, it arrived, blew me out of the water in performance and quality - instantly fell in love with it and officially has replaced my girlfriend and loved ones.

    -------

Customer Support - besides the odd language block you'll have sometimes which isn't much of a big deal; they'll pretty much bend the rules and go out of typical company procedures to ensure your happy.

I've honestly - NEVER - had better service in my life.

    -------

Flexible configurations - great payment options - great quality - they even encourage you to tweak, mod, take apart your system - without voiding your warranty.

despite the trouble some people may have, for such a big company with a lot of systems going in and out of the doors and have hundreds of people scream at them all day on forums, emails and over the phone. They still manage to build great systems and go out of they're way to ensure your happy.

Gotta give them props and credit for that much at least.

Good to hear. I like Dell because:
    - they give me a choice of XP
    - pricing is good
    - so many configurations available

I hope I can still like Dell after receiving my first laptop from them.

Well sorry for breaking the thread but my relation is of "love and hate"...

    - I love Dell cause of their awesome support, you can get as many replacements as you want and Dell tech support actually "helps you!"
    - Also their comps are very good for the low price in my opinion...
    - Good warranty extensions aren't very expensive.

On the other side i hate them cause:

    - I shouldn't need "many" replacements to get a well built laptop.
    - Althought the customer support is good, 90% of them don't speak your language correctly which most of times ends in problems.
    - Every time i send them an email asking for more than 1 thing they just answer me to the first ignoring the rest ... true story.

The first point in 'hate' you mention is caused by the components they use - to cut costs not all of them are high quality. It is also the way they are manufactured.

And second/third - you can ask for direct contact details to the reliable person in customer service (I had quite good experience with phone calls and email exchange).

Dell sent me a crappy screen.. sent back, gave me a nice coupon, and got myself an awesome system. I'd say that's great CS.

I've owned a Dell desktop, three Inspirons, and bought my parents and my husband Inspirons too. Except for the desktop, all the other machines are still in working order though the oldest laptop was purchased in 2001.

I like Dell cause their machines are very configurable and their prices reasonable.
I've had exactly two exchanges with tech support in all my years of ownership and one was over an Axim. I had just spent two hours trying to get it to connect, and to my shame I was really snippy with the tech person as a result. No matter, she was very professional and pleasant and fixed my problem in about twenty minutes. Personally, I don't think it matters a jot, but she happened to have been Indian, I believe. I'll conceede the accent issue, but U.S. based tech support are just not trained any better and are not any more competent than outsourced ones. There are dim bulbs in any part of the world, as there are bright and motivated workers.
The second issue required a screen replacement on the laptop, and I had an appointment the next night, someone came in (on time) and replaced it quickly without causing any other problems.
Overall, there are more Dells in my future, I think.

I bought my first Dell in 2002, a Inspiron 8100 which I used until March 06 and would probably still be using but, without going into great detail, a heavy piece of equipment fell on it  and created a few problems that caused it to die a couple of months latter. I now own the Dell in my sig. I have not had to deal with Dell's CS. Its needless to say but I am a satisfied Dell customer! ;)

Ordered the M1330 on Sept 14. Processed on the 17th.
Delivered: Sept 29. 12 days before EDD. Dell CSR called to confirm the package be sent by DHL and it was delivered on time.

Build quality is 8/10 but nowhere near as robust as my Fujitsu.
Overall happy with CS but wish build quality would be better.

Extremely happy with mine, and the price was cheap too. It doesn't have any of those stupid multimedia buttons (2 volume buttons and a mute button aside), the build quality is excellent, its *fast*, and everything, hardware and software, works flawlessly.

I wish it had DVI output so I could hook up one of those 30" Dell LCDs, but otherwise there are no downsides whatsoever. And thankfully none of the wireless problems that plagued the old Latitude D610s at the office.

i love dell because its not like other brands where you can find at stores, but rather online or on the phone which make me feel more confident on buying it on the phone with a pro than wasting my time a retail store. second dell computers are very strong built no bloatware but just what you ordered . third dell's customer service is far better than HP (my experience) Fourth you can get a fast budget computer with more bonus rather than a slough loaded with crap*HP*. fifth you are able to customize whatever you want in your comp which not many companies have this service. sixth you are able to keep replacing until you are satisfy with your purchase which is my favorite..... DELL iS A GREAT BRAND!!!!!! I LOVE DELL ^_^

I am VERY happy with my Vostro 1500 (specs in signature).

I think customer support is great. Tech Support on the other hand is great when it comes to replacing hardware but a bit lacking when it comes to software. I receintly had an issue where my 1500 was not recovering from Sleep or Hibernate and the only way to "wake it up" was to do a hard reset. The tech support person was very friendly and spoke English very well. (I think small business support is in N. America). But he ended up sending me an up dated driver thinking I had a Vista system. Turned out I fixed my issue on my own by reinstalling my original Forceware from the supplied Dell CD. Issue Fixed!

I love Dell because the systems are solid and priced more than fair. This is my second Dell laptop. My first was a Lattitude D520 and I know that the person using it now is having no issues with it asside from the battery life but that is to be expected. I hope Dell keeps up the good work.

I think that jawbreaker mentioned some great advantage of Dells - you can replace until you are satisifed. I didn't know that. In the beginning I also thought it is a disadvantage that I need to order online but after a few visits to the computer stores I realised that the people ignore you, have know idea about specs what so ever.

I hope I will still be satisifed after receiving my first Dell later today. You will find a review here shortly.

Even with the bad csr's they are still better then other companies tech support. The other copmpanies will not right away repalce your notebook or send you a replacement. Some even make you pay for the shipping yourself.

This is why I buy dell. For how fast the parts get replaced.

sjsmr2 well he was right wasnt he? You had reinnstalled your video DRIVER. you stated he sent you a new driver. So he was right then wasnt he?

    - Yes i'm happy with my M1330. I had to wait quite long, got delayed a couple of times, but it was worth the wait.
    - Haven't called tech support yet (and hope i don't have to).
    - I originally didn't want to buy a Dell laptop at all. It simply seems odd to me to buy a product of the company i'm working for, i simply didn't want that badge in my house and it looks kinda fanboish to me as well. But after being out on the market for a couple of months searching for a performance portable, i ended up looking at the small XPS M1210 again and again. Then the M1330 was announced and i decided that it was what i wanted. So, against all my intents i ended up with a Dell notebook.

By now they have given me a nice computer and good support why shoudnt I love them!?
