I've had this computer for almost 2 years and only a handful of times have I tried to burn a CD. It will go through all the steps of burning, makes all the usual noises and such... but what comes out is still a blank CD. What is that about? I know I need to call, but was wondering if anyone else had an idea before I had a chance to sit down and call them.

What program are you using to burn? Are you using the correct media to burn? Any errors?

I have tried both the Roxio CD creator and the Windows Media burner. I am following all the steps as described and I get no errors. I can follow the exact same steps on my desktop and out comes a nicely burned CD... I do it on the laptop and I get a blank one. It goes through the same process, sounds, and whatnot... but it is just straight up empty.

Do you happen to know which model optical drive you have? Also which model is it? It sounds like you will need a new drive.
