Why does Dell play this whole game of "boxing"? Apparently they ship your finished product from Malaysia to the U.S., then after spacing out a bit they ship it to YOU.
Why not ship from Malaysia to the customer?? I ordered HP a month ago, they built it in 8 days (not "business days", human days). And shipped it straight to me, then I received it 2 days later (with '5-7' day shipping) lol.
So far my order spanned maybe 4 "business days" over like 10 days, two weekends, one holiday today, and by the time they ship it, the stupid shipping carrier will have their "business days" and ill have to wait another week. ARGH!
This post is kinda irrelevant, more like a rant..but I am sincerely asking why dell first ships to Texas or Tennessee etc. instead of "boxing" the order in Malaysia and then shipping straight to the customer...

cost-efficiency?

How is that cost efficient lol, it makes no sense it involves so much more work to have it shipped to ANOTHER facility and then me, instead of just shipping it direct to the customer!

its more cost effective because of the trade agreements the country’s have. Also when they shipping alot of product to the same place it cost alot less per item. Then to ship to a hole bunch of address from out side north America.

I believe they also do some final localization as well. I believe things like the disks and manuals actually get boxed locally. I could be wrong though.
Why doesn't dell ship directly from Malaysia?
