Damn, I hate admitting it's so, Pk, but that's a good point. :D

Smarta$$es who make negative comments about the modest machines of other folks are probably in over their heads, wishing they'd been smart enough not to finance a laptop.

    I like my Mac, btw.

The quality of the XPS and Latitudes is better, in my opinion.

I had an Inspiron which wasn't bad either.

Ok, knock it off and stop calling things 'gay'. That is hurtful and insensitive.

Because it's the standard. If you want a totally non exciting laptop, the dell brand delivers. I suppose XPS is the only thing sexy or surprising about the brand, but there's nothing like making yourself boring on campus by buying an Inspiron.

No computer company has good customer service. I want my computer customer service to be the same as the SEARS craftsman customer service. If your computer breaks for any reason, it will be replaced for free without any questions.

Get an XPS.....customer service is great. This alone is worth all the frustration and the step up.

Put an option in for "their customer support sucks". Everything else seems to be OK, except for that.

I have to agree. It's the worst phone service I have ever encountered. I was bounced around several times and spent hours reexplaining myself to a new rep who would transfer me to another rep who would transfer me...you get the picture.

True story. I had a rep straight up lie to me and admit it when I caught him. He was in no way apologetic. I was caught in a he said she said game with customer service and sales. Finally I told this guy that we need to get all three of us on the line. He told me he already talked to a customer rep and couldn't help me. Later in the conversation I asked him again stating I want to be on the line with him and the customer service rep. He told me that he had no way of contacting CSR. So I then asked him how he talked to one earlier. He said he didn't he said he used to be in CSR so he knows how they would react. So I asked him if earlier when he said he already talked to a CSR that he really meant he talked with himself. He said yes, I told him he lied to me and I want to talk to a supervisor and he admitted he lied and flat out refused to get his supervisor. I hung up.

Every time I get on the phone with them I swear its a game for them. First through the phone maze then second through an underpaid sarcastic rep.

Their products are good, especially if you replace dell stuff with intel stuff. No complaints so far there, but phone service is horrible.
