when using core avc the usage is about 60%, btw it is on power saver if this makes any difference.
On my desktop the same file is at 25%
file: 720p mkv
CPu 2.2 Core 2 duo

yes it does powersaver lower the cpu greatly to save power put it on high performance

This happened to me with Vista Business, having just wmp and 1 browser page open the CPU usage was around 60%-70% and I didn't manage to figure out what the problem was.. I put XP pro on it and now everything runs smoothly

Vista uses a lot of processor usage itself... its very annoying -

go to start then control panel the power options. set it to high performance. when you first install vista microsoft set the cpu on balance and you have to set it on high performance. tehblizz you should not of installed xp yet

ok well thanks guys i tried it and put it on high perfromance and it was only 5% more than xpm thanks, btw y is the file copying and copying files over the network so slow

the service pack resolves this but it is in beta and unstable so i would wait what is the transfer speed

umm no, i encoded it myself from a dvd, its an mkv file that plays in wmp10 the one that comes with media direct but i cant see the file in media direct
