    Why is screen soo blurry?

    So i had my dell e1505 with widnows 7 hooked up to a 17" lcd via vga and everything was fine. I just hooked it up to my dell 24" lcd via vga also and upped the resolution to 1600x1024 (the max) and it looks very blurry and i think there is a lag that is noticeable when typing? This screen worked fine with my macbook pro before...any ideas why?
