Why must we wait so long?

Only to end up being lied to and delayed again?

They are making a damn laptop. That's all. Not some moon base. Just a laptop.

Did Dell decide to hand build our orders using only the best quadriplegics of this world?

I love how quick they are to take your money and respond to your emails should you have an enquiry that could lead to your order, yet be snowed in and never responding back after you've given them your hard earned money.

It's really frustrating not having any real updates on the status of my order. Why is it delayed, what parts are missing, when is the real likely delivery date? The online status check simply SUCKS. I might as well ask the nearest two-year-old to explain nuclear physics as both would be equally useless.

Why should I be in Pre Production for 36 days? Is Dell hauling my parts from the freaking Uranus? Why sell me a product that they cannot build? Why lie about dates? Why ignore my mails? Any new company that does that would crumble the ground and become dust to be blown away and forever forgotten. Customer Service Sucks. They suck so bad, they should compete with Dyson and build hoovers instead of computers.

Well, let me tell you what happened. Your configureation and ship dates are the same as mine. Your last ESD changed just like mine. You see Malaysia observes some 22 different state and national holidays. Oct 13th, 14th and 15th being one of those. I confirmed that my system is built, tested and boxed BUT is sitting in a customs holding area and wont move until the 18th. Aint government intervention great!

Yeah, but mine is still in pre production. How the hell can they not have one part of a laptop they've made several thousand times for 40 days?!?!?!

if you're unhappy (which you are) with the delay, send customer service an email explaining how unsatisfied you are and might consider canceling the order.

I did exactly that when I was told my order was delayed for another week after a whole week of inactivity (stuck on pre production...). Later that day they replied saying they will look into it and I ended up receiving the notebook in 2 days :) They even called me and asked if I was satisfied with the service after I received the notebook.

I'm from the UK, it seems like thats the way to get their ass moving and put your order on priority list.

The cancelling threat doesn't work with them anymore. It did for a while but now it seems my oder will take forever to arrive and they'd rather cancel and not deal with this as it's too much for them.

The near mention of cancellation they jump on the chance and say "If you want to cancel, just say so Mr...____ and we can do that for you".

    Great.

I have a new delivery date of December 3rd.

At the moment, I'm so pissed, I'd happily run over that biatch that lied to me in order to get a sale.

    ...mac book pro....hmmmm

that's taking the piss. I would just go ahead and cancel it. I can't even take 2 weeks, not to say months.

They weren't even the slightest bit appologetic, reasoning that because there are others in my situation, waiting a very long time, it is also ok for me to wait a very long time.

The odd thing is that the cause of my delay was known from the beginning since another rep warned me about it causing delays but the rep I dealt with assured me not to worry and that there is no problem with my order and it would arrive on or before 21st September 2007.

If the apple store was working an hour ago when I was really pissed I would have gone and bought a mb/mbp...but stupid me, feels like I should wait a day or two until someone from Dell actually gets back to me to try to resolve this matter.

I'm in the same position. Been waiting for a Vostro 1400 since August 28th, and its just been delayed for the third time!

Current EDD for this laptop is 28th October - doubt that they're going to make that either.

I feel your pain my friend. I'm still waiting for mine as well, at first they gave me an order number that belonged to someone else, so here I was tracking someone else's laptop getting all excited, then I receive an email stating that this new number is the "real" order number... grrrr.. but its finally on the road, Purolator informed me that it'll be at my doorstep by monday or tuesday at the latest. But keep the pressure on them, keep calling and asking for status updates. One thing I've learned in my auto-mechanics class in school was "The squeek always gets the oil" Keep calling them, if you call them enough times they're bound to speed up the process just to get you to stop pressuring them.
