Why my M1535 show 3.5GB RAM when it says it should have 4GB?
    How can I check it?

    Thanks!

Vista 32-bit only recognizes up to 3.5 GM RAM, you have to upgrade to 64bit for it show 4gb RAM.

I'm sure 3.5GGB of ram should be perfectly fine for most people.

You can if its XP 64-bit. The point is the operating system has to be 64-bit based in order to be able to address any memory past 3.5GB.

Oh nice, I was under the impression that Vista could only see up to 2 gigs which seemed low to me. Glad to know that every bit of my 3 gigs will be used!

Understand also that in Windows, device drivers hack away at the 3.5 limit as well so in something like Vista 32, you may even only see less than 3.0GB once everything loads... Just FYI...

Oh by the way, did you mean M1530? Unless DELL released a new laptop while I was at Whistler. :D

Just to clarify 32-bit OS can see 4GB of RAM but the CPU and Video Cards take up some of that (depends on your specific system)

64-bit OS can see up to 128GB of RAM so basically all that you can out in you can see.
