-2 weeks ago: Dell sends me a box to send them my notebook in so that they can fix it. I tell the customer service rep that I will be at a different address and ask him how to have it send back to that address. He tells me to write the address down on a piece of paper and put it inside the notebook before I close it and put it in the box. Why did I listen to him? I dont know.

-The next day: I drop off my box at the mail center at my university. I put my HOME address as the return address. I call DHL and schedule for them to pick it up and also confirm with the person I talked to that if I put my home address as the return address that it would be shipped there

-3 days ago: I receive a call saying that my laptop has been fixed

-2 days ago: I receive a call saying that my laptop is being shipped out to me

-Yesterday: I call Dell to make sure they got the address right. They did not send me an email with the tracking number or any other info, so I had been unable to check before. They got the address wrong. I throw a fit and the guy assures me that he will have it called back and send me a confirmation email etc etc etc.

-Today: No email. I check using my tracking number. It has been delivered to my university. I call and make a big fuss, stay on the phone for a while, talk to a manager. He said he would look into it and call me back. 15 minutes later he calls me and says he is scheduling it to be picked up from my university tomorrow and then shipped express to my home address.

    -Tomorrow: ??????????????

Turns out the "We are scheduling for it to be picked up" really meant "DHL doesnt have time to do that because it's christmas"

So I called today, yelled a lot so that I could get the manager on the phone... by the way by far the most annoying part of Dell customer service is starting over every time I call. It takes around half an hour just to get them to stop saying "but it says right here on your account information..." and find records of my calls to Dell.

So I got the ID# and name of the case manager and he said at the earliest he could have it picked up monday and delivered express tuesday at the earliest.

It just blows my mind because if I werent calling and hounding Dell's ass constantly I'm sure none of this would happen at all.

I have officially given up. I was supposed to have my laptop delivered to me on the 17th, but Dell ended up shipping it to my school address even though I contacted both DHL and Dell on the matter to have it delivered to a different address.

I called the day before it arrives at the wrong locations and was told it would be called back. It wasnt called back and I recieved no email confirmation.

I called and was told that it would be picked up on thursday the 20th. I call on saturday. It has not been picked up and since DHL is closed on weekends, I was told it would happen monday. It did not happen monday. DHL is closed for christmas, so I called at was told it would happen wednesday. It did not happen wednesday. I call and I was transferred to DHL even though this is an issue with Dell and not DHL. Eventually I was told that an order was filled out and would take 24-48 hours to process. I called 2 days later and found out that no such order was on record. I talked to a case manager and was told it would be picked up on tuesday because DHL is closed for the new year.

    I leave on the 4th.

Is there anything I can do? I know I can get a full refund easily, but at this point I dont see how that is worth it since I got a good deal. Oh, and the funny thing is that I sent it to them in order to have them fix the headphone jack problem? Why? because they insisted that they had a fix and I have a case number with a recorded call guaranteeing me that the laptop would be checked for the issue before they sent it back.

I mean, it just blows my mind. Totally ruined my vacation.

I am genuinely appalled at the service I have had to deal with and all of the time I wasted talking to those idiots. I even heard one of them cussing at me while the phone was put down or something because apparently he didnt think I could hear.

I had a discussion with dell staff about it. The focus of the $150M upgrade was for dell chat and such. For shipping its the same old ****. I hope you get your machine soon.

My horror story? It arrives at my doorstep, in like three boxes sitting out in plain daylight with DELL DELL DELL all over it. I think to myself, "YES YES YES!!!!"

I ordered on a thursday and it shows up that next tuesday. I swear they built the laptop next door and left it at my front door.
