Purchased an M1530 for 1600 bucks approx.

I look on my itemized invoice and I see the following charges:

$251 - Type 15 Third Party At Home Service with nights and weekends 2 year extended

$189 - Dell Hardware Warranty Plus Onsite service initial year

$56 - Type 15 Third Party At home service initial year

    $49.99 - 1 Year Lojack service

That is a lot of bloat in my opinion. I definately don't want the lojack service. I am considering calling and returning the extended warranty to save myself another 251 + 56.

    Thoughts?

IMO, the LoJack is a complete waste. Extended Warranty and Complete Care OTOH are certainly worth it.

When you're ordering over the phone, can you request not to have the LoJack with your system?

You really think 300 bucks(1/3 cost of the entire laptop) is worth the additional 2 years?

It definitely does not worh it, but if you buy it with the -$669 deal, this is one thing you're not paying for.

My perspective is different because my laptop was close to $2500 when I purchased it......so IMO, the additional warranty is worth it.

Not that I know of. Once you get the bill all the stuff is itemized and then you can return/get refund.

When they first give you the price they make it out like its all free and included but once you get your bill you'll see that all that free stuff costs a lot of money and you can return it.

At first they were saying that its free and included but then when I start busting out part numbers and prices on my bill they said that I can call back when the laptop ships(they cannot change an order while it is in the production phase). I think I am going to call back and have it all removed and just stick with the 1 year included warranty. Drop my price from 1600 down to 1300 on this monster:

    2.4 Ghz/800mhz FSB
    3 GB RAM
    256 MB 8600M
    7200 RPM 160GB drive
    DVD Burner
    XFI Xpresscard addon
    1680x1050 WSXGA+ Screen
    Intel Wireless N
    Bluetooth Addon
    6 Cell Battery
    Additonal AC Adapter

I think if it lasts a full year without breaking down it is likely to keep running another 2 years.

Remember, most major credit cards will double the normal 1 year warranty. Most warranties aren't worth it as there's a huge chunk of margin for the company if you buy them. If you really want longtime protection, your insurance company may give you a much better deal.
