For the Politically Inclined
So whatever your political affiliation is, this might suade you to reconsider your purchases one way or the other. Anyway, don't flame my for free speech (my intention is merely to educate)
DISCLAIMER: I strongly disagree with the current white house administration on everthing from the Iraq (NOT Afganistan) war to healthcare to corporate payoffs and general lack of accountability for their collossal mistakes.
For all the Dell Buyers out there, you should understand that Dell is on of the REDDEST companies out there (right up there with Walmart and Home Depot). Now as far as I know Dell treats their workers MUCH better than Walmart (I assume they get SOME SORT OF healthcare coverage), and they don't use illegal immigrants at $1/hr to clean up their warehouses.
Dell, Inc.
"Dell currently has a 12% BuyBlue rating due to political contributions for the 2003-2004 election cycle. Dell's exuctives and particularly Dell's founder and chairman Michael Dell contributed heavily and almost exclusively to Republican politicians in the 2003-2004 election cycle. Dell also has a political action committee which contributed $97,888 (29.00% D, 71.00% R) during the last election."
http://www.buyblue.org/detail.php?corpId=87
(the website actually has copies of FEC reports if you really want some hard facts)
ON THE OTHER HAND
Gateway, Inc.
"Gateway currently has a 84% BuyBlue rating due to political contributions for the 2003-2004 election cycle. Gateway's key executives contributed solidy and heavily Democratic in the past election cycle. Gateway also has a political action committee with a less than satisfactory donation record - $20,000 (28.00% Dem, 70.00% Rep)"
http://www.buyblue.org/detail.php?corpId=153
I would personally buy from Gateway, becuase they support my values (fairness/equality). I'm tired of buying cheap products from corporations (Walmart) that support wars of aggression and exploit their employees like a third world country.
And hey...If you're a staunch conservative, this might actually make you buy more Dell...who knows. Either way I'm all about educated consumerism.
ANOTHER DISCLAIMER: I am in no way associated with either corporation. I do not work in the IT field and am an otherwise independent consumer. But don't take my word for anything. Check it out for yourself:

Hey it's called CAPITALISM. ain't it grand? [
]
"don't flame for free speech" -- now that's rather oxymoronic isn't it? heh It's like saying you have the right to say something stupid, but I don't have the right to say that what you said was stupid. bloody double-standard liberals. []
At any rate, I'd buy Gateway too -- if they are cheaper, have better service, and have better quality. If I want to blow away my time and money on a cause I'd rather buy myself a drug addiction or something.
okey that was fun, back to the forumn, so how'bout them Dell Notebooks? Anybody have one of these?
cheers,
yass -
Who cares?
I know I don't.
Things I buy are bought from a price/performance level. Why the hell would any sane person care what political affiliations the company that makes a computer has.
If Hitler were still alive and he made the best quality/cheapest laptop, I would buy one.
But, thats just me.

$97,888
wow, i bet that maybe bought some W'O4 stickers for the government SUV's.
That is so small, who cares? -
I would personally buy from Toshiba, as they support my values. According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Toshiba execs gave a total of $718 to the Flat Earth Society, more than the employees of any other technology company.
Seek the plane truth! -
Why are you posting in this DELL thread? THIS is NOT a POLITICAL FORUM! IF you don't like Dell or have something relivent beside telling us how Dell supported the RED Party and Gateway suupports the Blue which I can careless EVEN though I HATE Bush hehe =P WHo Needs Bush I have my own bush hehe ^_^
Any how IF you don't like it don't buy it, dont post in it's forum not like I'm posting "I LOVE Wall Mart" in a "I HATE Wall Mart" Forum hehe.

Guys,
All of you ....Stop! Stop!
This person is sick for some reason whether it's intentional or not. It could even be a scam! Stop! You all are being as bad as this person is.
There is one reason behind this post....the person is sick for what ever reason.
Stop! Get your selves together and think rationally. Stop acting like children and feeding into what is so obviosly sick. Unless this person is literally from mars ,the moon,etc... there should be no fascination.
Karma,It'll Get You! -
I don't know why this elicited such a strong response. I find what you have to say mildly interesting and not at all inflamitory. I don't know why anyone would call you "sick" unless perhaps they had a lot invested in Dell. This certainly seem like an apropriate enough forum for this type of information considering this is where you would go to communicate with computer purchasers rather than simply the politcally inclined. I hope you aren't scared off from this forum by some excessively ruud replies.
I know things, things that could bore people to death. -
I think this is kinda stupid. I personally don't support bush, but i see no reason not to buy from a company if they have good prices if they are on a different political side. I think you should put this on the off topic section.
-
meh, i have a dell and no regrets, able to get whats in my sig for $1530. I love that. Gateway doesnt have nething remotely close to the gaming performance as the dell and they are more expensive. I'm a college student, so im always on a budget. I chose dell because of, like timak, the price/performance ratio.

As a Republican campaign staffer on 3 election campaigns in the last 2 cycles and helper in a local Republican Ward Organization, I must say I made the right choice with Dell! Even though I didn't know about this until now.
I also did a quick check and Dell is HQ'ed in Texas! Yey.

By posting this here and giving the exact link to Dell's financial contributions you thereby violated the premise of your original argument. It's ok for people to contribute to Blue's, but it's not ok for people to contribute to Red's, in your eyes. You want to deny Mr. Dell and his management team their right of free speech and freedom of choice of a political party on the grounds that they're contributing to your opponent, and then grant the Gateway executives their right because they're contributing to your party. Well I've got news for you, bud. Everyone has a right to their own opinions and positions on the issues. You want to sit here and preach how we should be knowledgable of where our money goes and not spend it on Red contributing executives while promoting people spending on Blue executives. You cry out in the name of free choice while symultaneously denying the rights of others (Dell executives and forum readers) their freedom to choose who they want to associate with just because it happens to be your opponent. Then you try to cover it with a shroud of the famous objectivity and non-bias reporting you and your friends try all the time. I've got more news for you; it doesn't work anymore. As a member of the public I don't give a damn what other people want to do with their money. You liberals need to stop badgering everyone about everything. You're the first to throw the tomato and the first to call foul, even if nothing has been done in return. Your party has resorted to absolute sensationalism by posting radical topics such as these and flooding the airwaves with your one-sided, closed-minded agendas. You, sir, are indeed sick.
For those of you not in the USA it's a real pain to be but a mere 1-vote citizen between two political giants in which neither can do anything right or anything at all. It's all about votes and money now. Screw the public even though they elect or don't elect you.
This ends the "citizen's" reply to politics spilling over where they don't belong.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -

Wow, flame away people.
Apparently some guys have tremendous problems with Freedom of Speech/Information (which I expected from conservatives anyway).
1) Nothing I posted was really my opinion. Actually to all the red state freedom haters our there, I even TOLD YOU to go ahead and BUY more Dell.
2) This is NOT a political forum, but you know what? Where you spend your money supports politicians whether you like it or not.
3) Some insanely crazy person said he would buy from Hitler if he sold good pcs...how about that for a "sick" and "twisted" idea.
To all conservative hate (Dragon_myr and other Freerepublic crazies):
Flame me all you want -- For one I don't care, I don't post here for you but for ACTUAL reasonable people. Their hard earned dollars are supporting exactly the kind of politics they might oppose.
Plus, if you find this message offensive or "sick", then
1) Don't read it.
2) ask the moderator to ban it.
Quite frankly, from all the hate and flames I'm quite surprised it hasn't been closed yet.
Cheers to all, this is actually kind of fun.

I'm not insanely crazy nor am I sick and twisted. I simply don't have the same ideals as you and people like you. I don't give a crap about the rat race that is the American political system, and I find people like you incredibly annoying.
I don't have money coming out my rear end, and if ANY company were to offer a product that was the best and it was low in price I would buy it. I wouldn't really care who it was made by or who they support.
Im not defending Dell here because if Gateway made the computer I wanted at the price I was willing to pay I would buy from them. But they dont.
I don't care what you believe in, and who you support, and obviously most people here don't care either. But I suppose you thrive on that sort of environment don't you. Else you wouldn't have posted the topic to begin with.

I don't get it. If you guys are upset with this being posted in the first place why don't you just stop flaming and let it fade into the history!
I saw this when it was posted and since then everyone has just ben going on. Maybe we need a politics corner for venting. I have seen that on a lot of other tech forums and I find it to be a nice idea. Especially that we have here people from around the world and it would be a nice way for exchange of ideas!
So if this thread bugs you just ignore it!

I really don't give a rat's a$s what party you like. Do you have a problem with a Dell PC that you own? Are you looking to get more info on a Dell that you might want to buy? Do you just have general questions regarding Dell laptops in general? Do you want to share your personal experience regarding your Dell laptop?
No? But hey here's a dose of political propaganda to "inform" us? Regarding what? Why are you posting this in a Dell forum again?
Did you also post this in any other forums -- so everyone can check their notebook PC maker to make sure that they are politially "inline" with their respective party? no? then let me ask you again why are you posting it HERE? The HP forum has more postings, why not there?
that's that I thought,

Dealfinr, You say you will not buy a laptop from Saddam Hussein but where do you think your gas came from. Unless you ride a bike everywhere. If I concerned myself with everything I buy and who they support. I would never have time to buy or uses anything. How cares? Go back to the amish way. Make your own stuff. That way you know where it comes from. Mother Earth.
