Guys i have a Dell 1520, bought last month....Yesterday all of a sudden i noticed a black dot on my screen(near the bootom edge).... I surely remember that when the laptop arrived it had no dead pixels.....The funny thing is when the screen is switched off it appears as white pixel....Even with a black background it appears white....Its an AUO screen...k yeah the screen is lovely elsewise no graininess (atleast i didn feel it and thats enough).....Should i inform Dell about this or can i get a screen replacement for this??

Try downloading this and see if it is a dead pixel. If there are more than five dead pixels, you can have your LCD replaced.

Before pursuing a replacement screen, think about if the stuck pixel will really bother you or not. If you really like your screen otherwise and the stuck pixel is at the bottom edge where it won't really bother you, you might not want to risk getting a different screen that might be worse in terms of graininess, etc.

At home, I have a ViewSonic 19" LCD that I love--except it has a pixel that's stuck on red in the lower right quadrant of the screen. I decided not to try and get a replacement, because aside for that red pixel the screen is great! I don't even really notice it at all anymore, except for when I decide to look for it.
