    Hi,

I have a Dell Inspirion E1705 and was wondering what would be the wifi range of it?

Also I hear the antenna is basically attached to the laptop case so would it be possible just to put a antenna on the case and get it to work?( i have a XM radio antenna which you just put on top of your stereo and it is said to increase signal without having to be connected).

Also got any tips to get the best results of wifi

    Intel A/b/g

It's not the WiFi range of the E1705 as it is solely dependent on the wireless card that you choose for it. The range you get on the E1705 is no different than a E1505, or even a desktop with a wireless card of 802.11g.

The Dell Wireless 1390 802.11g Mini Card (54Mbps) and the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945a/g has a maximum range of 150 feet.

However, the new Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N technology doubles the range to about 300 feet as N is two times the current G standard.

The Antenna is NOT basically attached to the laptop case. The antennas are located within the monitor at the top. It is not possible to put a antenna on the case and get it to work, however you could get a good Express Card for your Express Card slot for a higher range.
