Ok so I am receiving my XPS m1330 tomorrow! Will it be worth installing INTEL TURBO MEMORY CARD (1GB), into my system? What type of performance improvements have people seen? thanks
-
I don't think m1330 can use a intel turbo memory card.
No, it wouldn't worth the money, did you get the 7200rpm hard drive tho? -

It actually degrades performance by a couple of percentage points.

From what I've read, if you have more than 2GB it won't really be worth it...and may actually slow things down. Intel was pushing that it would increase battery life...but it's only negligible.
I got really excited when I saw how cheap it is, but then I started investigating a little bit.
I came across this article. It was written in June, so I don't think it's outdated or anything (could be wrong though).

See for yourself. -
I do have 7200 rpm hard drive and I have 3 gigs of ram
-
I am happy with mine in a real world usage.

As other people said, Turbo memory, like readyboost, doesn't do a thing. If it actually does something, I bet it's degrading performance. If you really want super-fast read/write speeds and low access time, then get the SSD. It may be expensive, it's worth it.

buy deus ex game instead.
-
It is not worth the money. Do not buy it. Spend it on other deserving parts!

8MB block
Personally I like that... -
What do you all suggest as "deserving parts"?
-
Turbo memory provides a noticeable boost on systems with 1Gb or less memory but nothing appreciable above that.
-
Does it have any effect on hibernation?
-
I heard it actually takes longer to come back from hibernation, b/c it has to load that much more up into memory.
-
It takes about 0.001567 sec longer coming back from hibernation. LOL

see...told you
Will 1 gb Intel Turbo Memory be worth buying for my Dell XPS M1330?
