I found this 2GB stick, and would probably get it to replace one of my 1gb 667 memory sticks. Will it work on the E1705? Has anyone tried this yet? Or do both sticks have to be matching size? Would I have latency problems?
I use 32 bit Win XP Media Center and I know 4gb is not worth it. 3gb would be nice!
Do you think komusa is a good brand memory?

I think since ur computer came with only 1gb it can only hold up to 2gb. 3gb would just ruin your computer if its not compatible.

for that price might as well go with the 4GB Kit (2x 2GB) for $254
please see this thread

you laptop should see 3.2GB of ram with a 32bit OS -
it should work. 4 GB for 250!! that's awsome!

Isn't VistaX86 supposed to support atleast 4? -
ive been told that the e1705 only supports 2GB

In short, yes, you can put 3Gb or 4Gb in there. Max 3.25Gb will be seen. There's a theoretical performance hit in using 2+1Gb, but it amounts to only around 5% in practice. -
I know dell doesn't test their laptops to the max. Many of their specs are claimed to have a certain amount of ram, and the i8200 is not different. it's spec'ed to hold 1gb, but everyone who has one knows it can easily handle 2gb without a problem..I wouldn't be surprised to see it accept 2gb+ of ram..

Does the 6400/9400 series run memory in dual channel? If so, wouldn't upgrading to two different size memory sticks lower performance?
