I was wondering because I am thinking of buying one and swapping the memory for 2x1GB OCZ PC5400 DDR2 SODIMM. Will the processor be able to run 1:1 with the RAM or will it scale back to PC4200? Also, does changing memory void warranty? I'm under the impression that it doesn't..

    Thx in advance.

Great choice of brand. I bought OCZ for my 6000 twice around. It will not void your warrenty to change your memory. But your will have to put everything back the way it was when you bought it to get it serviced, should servicing be needed. The e1505/6400 will support 667Mhz, I think it will run at full clock.

So I'm guessing I won't be able to sell the 2x512 that comes with the laptop? hmmm...ok...it's either the Macbook Pro 2GHz or the e1505 2GHz...it's gonna be a tough choice but I'm sure that either will be a good choice. Oh by the way, OCZ ram has a great warranty...all my desktops use OCZ, and my brothers laptop uses Corsair(because it was much cheaper at the time). The OCZ lifetime warranty and their customer support is just great! I had my ram out the door shipped next day and back to me in 48 hours. :)

Are you certain you have to put back the original memory if you need the laptop serviced? That doesn't sound right.

It isn't. I didn't. Have sent it in for servicing with the aftermarket RAM. Sold the RAM that came with it. The dell police have yet to catch me...

and oh by the way I just realized the difference between pc5400 and pc5300...CAS latency better on the pc5400...

Macbook Pro and Dell? IMHO, those are very different choices... (My e1505 was under $1,000.) Yes, the 667mhz works in my e1505 without any problems. I picked up 2GB Transcend DDR2 667mhz from Newegg.

In Canada the 6400 is almost $1450CAD ($1300USD) when loaded up to your config.....it's around the same specs as an MBP minus the x1600. MBP is around 1950CAD ($1750USD)... Both add 2gb of OCZ 667..and well thats 200 extra...i dunno we'll see...im leaning towards the dell just because of the price difference....but OS X is quite tempting because I like Final Cut Studio on mac's. I do a lot of video editing and sound work so the mac would be a plus for that. and the ability to run windows natively sweetens the deal for the MBP....could possibly offset the price difference?
