The current Studio 15 (1555) uses 800MHz DDR2 memory and supports 1066MHz FSB processors. You can use slower DDR2 memory and you can use processors with slower buses, but you cannot use DDR3 memory. There's no real point in waiting for a new Studio 15 (as Dell probably won't release one until the next platform fresh), especially if you're just waiting on something like memory.

believe me, there's little difference in speed between the 800Mhz and the 1066Mhz memory.

The new Studio 15 (1555) is already a pretty new model; it's the second generation of that series, replacing the older 1535/1536/1537 models. As the good Commander mentioned, it uses up to 1066MHz FSB processors and 800MHz DDR2 memory. There's really no need for DDR3; the performance difference is almost negligible.

The Studio XPS 16, on the other hand, does use 1066MHz DDR3. But I would not use memory frequency as a main discriminating factor if you're trying to choose between the two.

    I agree.
actually tests have shown a little or no difference between DDR2 800 and DDR3 1066. Maybe in future when DDR3 matures it will have faster speeds, but it will take about 2 years for it to mature, till that time i would say DDR2 will be the best option.
