Title says it all. I want to buy an XPS 1530, but I wish it had the option for an 8800 GTS. I think the 8600 would be fine for me for now, but I would rather have an 8800 GTS. Do you think Dell will add the 8800 gts/gtx as a graphics card option for the 1530?

Probably not any kind of a refresh till the Montevino refresh which won't be till after July 14th now.

you can count how many 15.4 inch laptops with any variance of 8800 on one hand. you can probably count how many there will be with one hand in the future.

Honestly the GDDR3 8600m GT is powerful enough to do what a 15.4 laptop should do. After overclocking you can get an enjoyable Crysis experience. What more do you need.

Lol, I remember back to the good old days of eagerly listening to commercials of the pentium processors progressing from pentium I, to pentium II, and so on... In a few years technology will drastically alter from what is expected...

Probably not, because not much else could fit in a 15.4" laptop. A 8800 GTS would probably not fit in very nicely because it would have power and heat problems.

I don't think Dell wants their M1530 to compete with Alienware's m15x gaming computer because they own Alienware.

I think the only upgrade you will be able to see on the 1530 is a 9500m GT or 9650m GT.

Anything else will get too hot.

an 8800 in a m1530? Like others have posted probably not, but i can tell ya they would possibly consider the 9 series like kkl1014 has typed out. 2 main issues if they put in the 1.8800 major over heat and 2.size of the card.

There is no such thing 9500M GT and there is no such thing as a 9650M GT. They do not exist. Realistically, the only "upgrade" you could potentially see is the 9500M GS, which is equivalent to the 8600M GT making it utterly pointless.

9650M GS maybe. Still, its not that big of an improvement.

I think 9650M GS is the equivalent of the 8700GT. If dell do refresh the GPU they'll probably put in a 9 series card as they use less power and produce less heat (as said by EdiT808), the main two problems of the 8800GTS/GTX in a 15.4".
Also because Dell own Alienware it is plausible that they don't want to compete with their own laptop (m15x is 15.4" and contains an 8800 GPU).

If only Dell DIDNT buy Alienware... then again XPS laptops would still be phat if it werent for that since they'd try to cram all the big things in XPS.
