Neither Dell or Creative is taking ownership of the issue in that Vista is not compatible with SB Audigy MB yet you can still buy a Dell Vista laptop with the Audigy upgrade option as of today.
-
It's almost as if those two companies don't really care.... How unusual
I'm sure they'll have some option available eventually.... -
Wouldn't it be better for DELL if they just removed the option till Vista implements full support ? -
Well Creative got $ so they really don't care!
IMO Crstive only makes drivers when hardly pushed by many users (Live! basic edition and XP driver was good example of it -they had to bend after months of complaints)
Now, here we're talking about relatively small number of users. -
so that creative software junk i bought "Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy "
wont work w/ my vista???
can i get dell to refund me or is that impossible -
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
I cant even use my audigy 2 desktop card, the pre release beta driver is the only option, and it locks up,restarts and BSOD's like crazy, I've had to resort to onboard ac97. Creatives top priority is the XFI line, eveything else is either on the back of the bus, or still waiting at the bus stop.
-
Well I gues that wont get checked during order! lol
-
I've been reading on the Creative boards that they do know about it....and that's it....they know about it. My Vista gets here tomorrow and it's going in the drawer. I see no reason to leave MCE anytime soon.
-
darn it...im stuck w/ it
-
Isn't it illegal to sell something they no is broken without them even telling you it won't work? -
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
If that were true there wouldnt be any used car lots.
-
I guess the drivers and software upgrade are included in dell vista upgrade DVD. Check the link

^i hope customers that have dell laptops on there way to homes
have fixed the issue

(doubt it) -
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
Most if not all big issues will be resolved, when is anyones guess, the very near future is doubtful, by 6 months time a lot of things will be buttoned up, and probably some more things exposed, another 6 months and things will be even better. Bleeding edge tech be it hardware or software will have issues upon intial release, its a fact, and really cant be helped, early adopters (either by choice/or forced into it) will have to roll with the punches, rest assured Vista wont be going anywhere, its here and here to stay, it just has to grow up a little, right now its the toddler that just learned how to run, its gonna go head first into walls and bruise its behind a few times before it starts jetting around gracefully.

[update]
i just recieved my dell e1505 (specs in my sig)
yesterday 3-2-07
and the "Sound Blaster Audigy " works fine w/ vista
and it even came w/ a "REV VISTA" sticker on the reinstall Sound Blaster Audigy CD
looks like delll fixed it fellas -
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
Rather creative labs fixed fixed it. Thats good news, though I wish creative would stop spinning their wheels with my audigy 2...
-
Is the Integrated Soundblaster upgrade worth getting for the E1505? Or should I leave it unchecked?
-
Can someone take an image of the Dell Inspiron Vista Audigy disc (hopefully an E1705 one), and post it on the net? It's no good to anyone without a key anyways.
-
The Vista Audigy Advanced MB disk should be the same disk across the board, regardless of the laptop model. I'm hoping someone posts it soon too, because it looks like it could be a month or more before Dell decides to get their act together and help out those that didn't do the Express Upgrade.
-
Anyone had a chance to post the updated disk somewhere yet?
Will SB Audigy Advanced MB + Vista ever be possible?
