When the Core 2 Duo is replaced by the Santa Rosa, do you think the price will stay the same, or will it go up. And if it does go up, how much do you think?
-
The first models are usually more expensive as there is a more limited selection. As more models become available, the prices will start to drop. It's the good old law of supply and demand.

if i have to take a guess i would say if you can wait atleast another 6 months go ahead and wait, if you cant right now is the best time to buy a dell laptop.
-
I agree. Waiting a long time never works cause there'll always be a new model just behind the corner.
I decided to go for it and got an In9400 T5600, 2GB, 160GB, 7900GS and $1418 was IMO a fair price for such a machine. I was thinking about waiting for Santa Rosa, but this looked like a good deal to me and I was willing to pay this much (in the end).
If you need a laptop, buy one now -
the thing that most people seem to miss is that price/performance wise, the worst time to buy a system would be within months of its release, when you are basically paying a premium price for it.

I'm thinking of holding off until June to get the new inspiron design, but not with the new santa rosa processors... -
like i said,.. i doubt that this is even logical.. why should they create non santa rosa laptops with designs for santa rosa
-
Are they going to discountinue the e1705 model after the release of the santa rosa?

If you didn't notice, they had a dell $500 coupon, which is a sign they want to get rid of the older NB's for the new SR equiped NB's. too bad I had no money, but hopefully people will sell theirs for a bit cheaper so they can get the SR.
Will Santa Rosa Dell notebooks be more expensive?
