I posted here about my notebook stressing hard while editing videos. If I repaste with Kryonaut, will it help it power through a bit better. It does it, but not without the fans complaining ALOT. Thoughts on this?

It may help it run cooler and maintain higher clocks, but it likely won't be the end all be all solution so to speak. The fans will still ramp up to max speeds unless you modify their RPM. It's worth a shot, but you've read my XPS postings about trying to get every last ounce of performance from a laptop (getting what you paid for). Your best bang for the buck would be undervolting though, but that takes some time/effort.

Let us know if you have issues with the repaste, it's not too bad once you've done a couple.

I have done some repastes on desktops in the past. I am just trying to make my notebook survive being pushed like that. If a repaste will help and make sure it can handle being cooked like that while I am on the road working, I will be fine. I am under no dilusion that my notebook will do anything fast, as long as it can do it. I don't mind waiting for a couple of hours while a video encodes etc. I can sit down, enjoy the scenery, maybe take more pictures, or drink a few icy beverages!

and out of all the good thermal pastes in the world, you choose the worst which has the least longevity? Watch your temps start rising within 7 days of applying Kyronaut.

PHOBYA NanoGrease Extreme FTW but it's out of stock everywhere now so the next best is GELID GC Extreme Thermal Compound or Arctic MX-4

Kryonaut is bad for laptop use because it has a tendency to break down at temperatures above 80C. I’ve had great luck with Gelid GC Extreme. It’s not terribly expensive and easy to apply.

I wasn't looking at longevity, thanks' for pointing that out. I will probably go with MX-4 as I can get it locally. Thanks for the heads up.

Anytime my friend! MX-4 lasts slightly longer than GELID GC Extreme too!

Ehh, wife's repaste from >3 years ago is still running strong with Kryonaut, as are the countless other laptops I've repasted with it.
