    Will an older E5500 use a 65w adapter fine?

    Yes Just Enough. I use a 65 watt (PA-12 ) for the E5400 and E6400 and it works fine . I dont see any reason why it wont run the slightly larger E5500

    I gave my old laptop to a friend and only had a 65w charger to give him. I believe if it hits the limit of the charger for too long it's not good for the life of the charger and may prematurely go deftective.
