Will it really take this long?

I ordered a Inspiron 1420 on 11/27/07 and it says that it won't be shipped till 12/21/07 under "Estimated Shipping Date" in my e-mail. Does it normally take this long and is there a chance it could come early?

They over estimate the ESD by about a week now just in case.

 

i ordered my red 1420 on november 25th, and my original estimated ship date was december 21st! however, it shipped november 30th and i expect to receive it on december 4th. so it's very likely you'll get yours way earlier, too.

 

From what I got when I asked the agents at customer service; she said their initial estimated shipping dates are conservative, whatever that means, lol.
They are just automated to make sure you'll actually have the system by that date. Nontheless, as soon as your system is built the shipping date will be updated to the accurate one. Unless you've already received your system

Well on the 7th it changed to shipped and said it will be here on the 12th now. I talked to Dell about a tracking # and they said it should be on the site for the 11th or 12th which seems useless to give me a tracking # on the day I am suppose to get it.
