I got the 2.2 ghz processor, 8600m GT, and the 2 gigs of RAM.

I'm sure that I can actually run the game but the question is how well can I run it? As long as I can run it on atleast High and not be missing anything signifcant like"no landing gear animations" I think I'll be good. I don't mind stuff as much like the stuff on the ground but atleast I want the cities to look good and all the stuff at the airports and my plane. Also will I be able to run the Sims 2 to it's fullest? Thanks

That should be A-ok. FS 2004 runs without a problem on pretty much any computer, so FSX should be OK too.

Well FSX on my Desktop (specs in sig) will run on highest settings, but will have low FPS around airports. I imagine you will be able to run it just fine on med/high settings...

    Hi
Your system handles FSX easily. Even in my X1400 I am satisfied with performance let alone 8600GT  .Make sure you install SP1.This is a MUST.
And expect better performance with FSX-DX10 (FSX-SP2) patch.

    Happy landings

When you install FSX, be sure to get the latest update because it enables FSX to take advantage of dual-core.

    Hi all,
By mistake (?), Dell sent my Inspiron 1520 with a 15.4 inch WSXGA (1680x1050) screen. Would this affect, and how, FSX performance? (I just ordered FSX from US .. it'll take some time to arrive) ... And BTW, I bought this laptop ONLY for writing ... and Flight Simming :D

    Regards..

It would affect you if you were planning on running the game at the resolution 1680x1050. I run FSX on that resolution on a far better GPU (7800 GTX 512 MB) on my desktop and I can tell you it can't run the highest settings.

The question now is: how bad is to lower the resolution when your native res. is at 1680x1050? I mean, to lower the resolution inside FSX... Will I loose graphic quality or something like that? Does FSX have a "native" or a "standar-best" screen resolution?
I'm still kind of not knowing if I should insist Dell to have change my screen to WXGA+...
    Tks!!!
