I have an m1330 on order and was wondering if my printer will still work with Vista home premium. I have XP right now, i'm just not sure of compatibiltiy. The printer is about a year old.
Thanks

what make and model is the printer?

check the website of the printer maker and check the model. If its a yr old you should be ok with a new driver you download once you get the new pc. My printer was 6 yrs old and HP wasnt going to update the drivers for it and that ticked me off, but I was able to use a "generic" driver for the Vista to work. I ended up getting a new printer, 4 in 1 that has a built wi fi network -- its sweet

It's a HP Photosmart C3180 All-in-One. I just checked there website, it's good to go. Excellent, theres one problem solved.

dealing with a Dell phone rep in placing an order, she tried to get me to buy a printer saying the printer i had would most likely not work with Vista. i started laughing and i said, "o wow, that is interesting, especially since my 1.5-2 year old epson works perfectly on Vista and has no driver issues." her response was classic though, "are you sure?" no i'm not sure you dumb-ass, i just use it every day to print lol.

MS was really good in making sure that old hardware would work with Vista. It works well with old video cards as well as old printers. My HP printer was like 5 years old and worked from the start with no issues at all. They're already built into Vista, I believe

Never Never buy a Dell printer. You have to buy their proprietary ink cartridges. So if you run out, and need it fast.. you have to have them ship it. Dell, HP and everyone else who makes ink replacement cartridges loves the ink replacement scam... Profit margins on that crap is right up there with illegal drugs.

i did have a Dell AIO printer that i had gotten free but that was years ago. and you dont have to buy Dell branded cartridges for the printer to work. i used to get my replacements from a place near my college campus called Cartridge World. they had non-badged, generic cartridges that would work easily in a printer and cost no where near the price of a replacement from Dell itself. so in short, no you do not have to buy their proprietary ink cartridges.

I know some Dell printers are actually rebranded Lexmarks... so you could try seeing if its a rebranded version and buy those ink carts from your local store.
Will my printer still work with vista?
