Will these configurations work good and still be a fast working laptop? Any suggestions welcome.

What tasks do you intend to perform with this notebook? From what you mention, I would guess that you are referring to the Dell XPS M1210 notebook.

You could fill out the FAQ for better recommendations.

I have a similar config and it suits my needs just fine, the 7200 has double the cache, but it really wont make a huge difference. I dont regret my purchase at all.

One small suggestion : select the 8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) option instead of 24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive. What you have selected is just the CD writer with DVD rom.

Because everyone shopping for a notebook has been brainwashed into thinking they need the GPU...

    PS

Shhhh don't tell anyone! It's super funny when non-gamers pay extra for less battery life. ROFLMAO

A mid to low range dedicated card properly configured will eat up about 5% more battery, not a big deal compared to the extra headroom you will have with the system. Especially now in the dawn of vista, a dedicated card offers more pros than cons, even to non gamers, just because you are not planning on taking full of advantage of the graphics card right now, if your needs change, your good to go. Personally I prefer to have a system that far exceeds my needs, as opposed to one that just merely meets them.

Since your needs aren too demanding, i would make these changes
7200 proc instead of the extra 1 GB of RAM and
    128MB GFX card.
because, Changing a proc later is a huge task.
1Gb of RAM and 128MB GFX should be enough for Vista.moreover, they can be easily upgraded.
surely buy the DVD writer, think of 7200rpm hard drive.

The only video card options are the 7400(64 dedicated/192 shared) or the intel gma950, I highly reccomend the 7400.
