    Will this Blue-ray drive work on my inspiroon 1720?

    Anyone know if this will work on the inspiron 1720?

    It should. You'd probably have to remove the plastic guard though and put the one that's on the 1720's drive. The drive itself will fit, just not that plate.

    The front fascia would have to be removed, but that would be easy.

    Bascially, you will need to take the front fascia (of the drive, plastic) off of your drive and put on that drive. Most laptop drives are interchangeable and use the same interface.

    Also, you will need to swap the bracket on the back of the drive.

    OK, thanks, what about drivers? i'm assuming that my computer can handle the Blu-ray, and the drivers are easily found online?

    Drivers can be found online at the site of whoever manufactured the drive. However, drivers should automatically install or download when you boot with the drive placed inside.
