Will this ram work on my 6400/1505? I ordered 2 one Gig modules.
I currently have 2 512 K modules.
CPU-Z states that they are PC2-4300 (266MHz) Hyundai Electronics. Timings of 5 4 4 12 16 @266 MHz.
I thought that this notebook ram should be running at 533 MHz?
Anyhow, will the corsair’s frequency of 677 MHz be backwards compatible with my 533 Dell ram?

The corsair ram selection guide suggests that it is compatable.

Yes, that linked RAM will work just fine. For reference, DDR stands for Double Data Rate, which basically means that every cycle, the RAM can do wtice as much work, which equals what is twice the frequency. So, if you have a module of RAM that is DDR, and it runs at 266 MHz, it will performa like its running at 533 Mhz. This is the case for any DDR or DDR2 module of RAM.

Ah, OK thanks for the reply. I just wanted to be certain as I do know that laptops can be quite finicky. If its not just quite the right ram it wont work.
Otherwise, you are stuck buying manufactures overpriced propriety ram. I checked Dells Canadian web site and It would have cost me at least double for the same amount of ram. -
All computers will take specific memory, but practically all new notebooks use either 533 MHz or 667 MHz. They can be found in identical form factors, with the same number of pins, and the same size. Don't buy from manufacturers, as they charge extortional prices and are pointless, when other RAM on the market, which is much cheaper, will do the same job.

Hi Zero, just picked-up and installed the ram today and it does indeed work just fine. Other than the, I guess the BIOS telling me the amount of ram has changed and I had to press F1 to continue.
Works as advertised, now I have two 512k ram modules to sell.
Will this ram work on my 6400/1505?
