I did not know that they were not making them anymore. I had one in my basket yesterday at $599 and thought about it too long and now I could kick myself. Should I hold on for this one a little longer or look at getting the 1505?

The e1505 is equipped with Intel's Core Duo processor, which is said to be faster and more efficient than the Pentium M of the M140.

That said, the price of the e1505 is higher than the $600 on the M140 to which you referred. The e1505 would also have a larger screen (15.4) as against the 14.1 of the M140.

Some may say that it's better to get a current notebook, rather than a model which has been discontinued. Nevertheless, the M140 is still a good notebook. If your decision to purchase is rotating around pricing, then get the M140. However, if you really want to be up to date by having the latest processor etc., then get the e1505.

Oh, I should also mention that the M140 was replaced by the e1405, which is basically the M140 with a Core Duo processor. So, that's an option too, if you wanted to maintain the elements of the M140 while still being "up-to-date".

I would get the E1405 or E1505. The core duo is faster by far. I can't agree on the efficiency though. It seems the core duo's get less battery life than PM's. But you can get something like the E1405 for $650 with coupons loaded with a core duo CPU.

it all depends on what you are going to use the laptop for. I can say that i have a m140 and could not be happier with it, i do not regret getting one.

at first i got in and then a week later they stopped selling them and then there was the talk about the e1405 and i was kind of pissed. i then though about it and i would not have gotten as good of a deal had i sent my m140 back and gotten a e1405 plus i figure that i will pin mod this baby and then have a 2.26 MHz processor and that will suit my dvd encoding needs just fine.

also i dont wont to run vista when i comes out cause you know it will have issues and that would be the only real reason to get a duo cpu, cause the gaming will not be worth it with a gma 950 vid card.

basicaly you can get a really good comp for cheap but it will not be the greatest and latest thing on the market. cause there will always be something bigger and better in the future. there is no such thing as "future proofing", at least not anymore.

Yea i would have to say that last deal on the XPS M140 was pretty nice i end up getting one for $555 shipped (1.73/TrueLife/512RAM/60GB/CD/DVD Burner/WiFi/9cell).

I would have to agree it depends on your needs, i don't game and won't be installing Vista for quite awhile after it comes out, so works out for me nicely :D
