I installed winamp to get the media buttons to work and find that most songs exceed the threshold of the speakers and cause distortion.

I have tried the EQ to adjust but still get that speaker whine and if over loaded. Over vibration. Even at 1/4 volume.

Neither itunes nor media center seem to have this problem.

    Any suggestions?

are you using the creative audigy upgrade?, if so you can click the speaker icon in the taskbar, then select speaker settings at the bottom of the mixer screen, then test each speaker to see if one has gone out

Nope no sound blaster upgrade. I will push it and see what happens. Got a 3 year next day so if she craps out I will be giving dell a call.
